Vera
I wake up with a gasp.
Where am I?
I look in front of me to see an open door. I look to the left to see a chair flipped over. Someone was clearly mad.
I wipe my eyes to see better, then I see someone come in.
"Hey, darling." It was Kai, he pushed hair behind my ear and cupped the side of my face.
"Um hi, where is everyone? What happened?"
"You- you don't remember what happened?"
I'm really confused. "Oh, no that's why I'm asking you."
"I knocked on your bedroom door and I walk in to see a knife with blood on it, I walked near the bathroom, and," he looks away from me, "you were cutting yourself."
It all came back. The blood. The knife. My hands were covered in...blood.
I slap my hand over my mouth and feel the tears growing in my eyes, "I'm so sorry that you had to see me like that, I'm really sorry."
He finally looks at me, "Why?" He looked almost angry.
"Why what?" Why I'm sorry or why I did it?
"Why would you do that to yourself?"
"I didn't me-" he cut me off,
"You did mean to, and you hurt people by doing so."
"Did I hurt you?" I would be confused on why I would, considering I don't even know him and he doesn't even know me.
"No, I've never seen the point in suicide, so I was just confused on why you would try to kill yourself."
"I wasn't going to die." I roll my eyes, making him even more mad.
"You could have. You don't think about other people when you did what you did. You were selfish."
"No, I was hurt."
"Then why would you hurt yourself even more?" He said getting louder.
"I told you I didn't know what I was doing."
"How do you not fucking know what you were doing, Vera?"
Why is he so mad? "I wasn't in control of what I was doing."
"Do you hear yourself? You sound fucking ridiculous."
"Why do you even care?" I say getting louder just like he is.
"I don't care. I just don't get why you would hurt yourself. I mean what's the point when you're going to die eventually."
"People like me want out faster because we have nothing to live for. Nothing to offer to this world. We are nothing. I'm nothing." I looked down and swallow the big lump in my throat.
"If you were nothing then no one would have cared to get you help. No one would've cried for you. But they got help. They cried. Men don't cry. Your dad cried for you, his daughter. Hunter cried, he couldn't even breathe." He shakes his head and looked down.
"Let me guess, you just stood there while everyone's emotions poured out?" I finally looked up at him.
"Somethin' like that." He chuckles and the corners of my mouth go up a little.
"Yeah, I kinda figured you had no emotions."
"You know that's rude. What makes you think I don't have feelings?"
I shrug my shoulders, "You look like you don't have feelings."
"Don't judge a book by its cover, love."
