Chapter 5

"SCARLET ?!" Nate yelled. "Actually it's Princess Scarlet, mind your manners in front of her highness." Hanzo said. Scarlet lifted her finger as the whole room went into a deadly silence. "And who might you be ?" She said as she tilted her head, biting her blood-red painted nail. Stitting on her throne, she looked down at Nate and forced herself to look cold, her usual self. He was even more charming, now that she was seeing him in daylight. The way he gawked at her, clearly puzzled, made him look cuter, also the way her Guards were holding him down... Thank the devil she was the best at hiding things. "The Princess asked you a question, answer her !" One of the Guards shook Nate as he snapped out of whatever he was in. "My name is Nate Aspwel, princess..." He bowed his head and stood up, looking at Scarlet in a deviously charming but serious and angry look. "Wrong. It would be so much easier if you wouldn't lie dearie...." She sighed as all the Guards and Hanzo looked at her and at Nate confused, he looked puzzled as well. "Your name isn't Nate Aspwell, but Nathaniel Aspenwell." She smiled softly, not even caring to hide her mischief. "H-how did you...?" Nate babbled but shook his head quickly hiding his confusion. "Yes, you are right, pardon myself Princess..." He bowed his head and grumbled. "Well, now that this little thing is cleared up, I would like to propose a deal with you." She got up and walked to him slowly. "You see, with the war going on between the kingdoms and so on, Hanzo here proposed that I have a personal Guard with me at all times, he can't do it because he has other duties. I've watched the trainings of the Guards and if I must say, none of them would fill the task at hand." She felt all the aura of confidence and pride of the Guards in the room go down, replacing them with shame. "But something caught my eye a couple of days ago, you were the most wanted criminal in the kingdom, never getting caught and I don't think you would have been caught either if I hadn't acted in capturing you. Controling the Guards and finding your mind in the Mist was quite easy, I thought you would have been harder to find..." That was a lie, something or someone put a cloaking spell on his presence, hiding him from the Mist. In the Mist she could see every presence and soul of everything and everyone. Something or someone clearly didn't want her to get him or find him... But she was stronger than that. A couple of hours of cracking and casting spells, he was all hers. She knew everything on him, he was an open book now, but only to her. "And so, I was thinking... Why not make you my Guard ? You clearly fit all my standards and you're better than half of my Guards." She looked at him as he looked back at her, surprised and confused. "You would have plenty of advantages, one being you won't be executed or go to prison for your.... 'crimes'..." She giggled and saw him thinking it over. "You would need a little training as well, but I'm sure Hanzo would be quite glad to train you. Right ?" Scarlet looked at Hanzo and saw him nod. "Of course, it would be my pleasure if you agree..." He wasn't quite happy with her choice of Guard but once he would figure out that he was the perfect Guard, he would love Nathan. "I would also need to train you mentally and personally so other whitches and wizards won't be able to sneak around in your brain." She looked at him with a little smirk. " What do you say ?" He was quiet for a couple of minutes. "Please ?" She told him by telepathy as he looked up at her with a little anger in his eyes. "Get out of my head !" She released her hold on him but not before saying. "I'll explain to you everything later, please, just agree, I can't tell you with all these Guards and Hanzo in the room. Please..." He looked at her and went to his knee, bowing. "It would be my greatest pleasure my Princess, I am truly honoured..." She smiled happily, she knew he would say yes, he didn't have a choice. " Perfect we start now. Shall we go to my quarters ?" He got up and took her arm gently. "Of course..." As they were about to leave, Hanzo spoke. "Scarlet, do you think it is a good idea ? Are you sure about this ?" He looked at her concerned. "Don't worry about me Hanzo dear, if he tries anything I could simply kill him." She smiled at him as Nate tensed up. " Please, don't bother us." She disappeared in the blink of an eye, bringing Nate with her to her quarters. He let go of her arm as they arrived to her quarters and quickly pulled away. "Who are you really Scarlet ? I need an explanation, now."
