"Who are you Scarlet ? I need an explanation, now." Nate looked at her a little angrily but also confused and slightly scared. She looked as beautiful as he remembered. The way she stood in front of him, looking confident, she looked like a princess... No wait... She WAS the princess. Was she still the girl he saved last night ? Or wait.... Was that all fake ? She was powerfull enough to kill all those wolves in a blink. She looked emtionless and cold, but the way she was lookinng at him showed more than that. "Listen, I'm not sure what you think of me but what I told you later was 100 % true. I am in need of a personal Guard and you're the one I had in mind." She looked up at him. "No, I understood that, I meant were you the same person last night ? Why did you do that ? I know you could have killed those wolves easily." He walked towards her. "And the kiss ? Was is real ? Or did you charm me ?" He stood straighter, as if opposing her. "The person I was last night is still the person I am now, I haven't changed. I did that because it was the only way to contact you, and also because I needed a little fun..." She giggled a little and he could barely keep himself from melting inside. "What about the kiss ? Did you charm me ?" He tried not to blush. "No, I didn't charm you. There are a couple of rules to magic. 1) You can't change the past. 2) You can't bring people back from the dead. 3) You can't make people fall in love." He looked down a little embarrassed. "Oh... But you still didn't answer for the kiss." Nate looked at her and saw she turned away. "That isn't important for now. You need to tell me, are you ready ?" Nate blinked as if he was confused. "Ready for what ?" Scarlet sighed and walked towards a table where there was a heavy looking grimoire. "For the bond ? The contract ? You know, the thing we were talking about three seconds ago ? I need you to be my Guard. You accepted. Are you ready for the ceremony Nathan ?" She turned to look at him, something different in her eyes. "How would it work ? But wait, you still didn't tell me everything of what I would do and what it will cost me !" He said holding out a finger, signalling her to wait. "I need someone to protect me, even if I don'r need it. But just in case. I need someone at my side, to be with me, keep me company... Nothing more, nothing less." She said in her serious tone, as if trying to act dominant. "You said you wanted me, why ?" He walked towards her, curious. " Scarlet backed away from him a little awkwardly. "I told you why..." Her facade was slowly crumbling as he moved closer. "No, I mean the real reason..." She bumped against the table as Nate moved closer, almost touching her. He could feel the memory of her lips, her touch... But yet... "There isn't any. I told you everything." She managed to escape to the other side of the room, her cheeks a little pink with blush. Nate looked at her a with a little sadness. Her heart was still guarded by a dark force, she was keeping it locked and hidden, her emotions cold as ice. "Fine, if that's what you say." He looked at the grimoire and reached out to it. "Don't touch it !" Scarlet screamed and grabbed it before he could reach it and held it close to her chest. "Don't. Ever. Touch. It. Understood ?" She looked at him darkly but in a protective way. "Euhm, why ? Is it dangerous ?" Nate said looking at it confused. "Yes, and it's precious to me. It was my mother's and now it's mine. You must not touch it without my permission. Understood ?!" She repeated with impatience. "Yes yes, I understand, I promise I won't." He said still confused as Scarlet sighed. "Thank you..." She stroked the cover of the grimoire and relaxed as she set it down. "Alright, let's get started." The room suddenly darkened as she finished speaking. Nate felt a shiver own his spine and he walked towards the center of the room where a pentagram glowed on the ground. "I'm ready Scarlet." She stood in the middle of the pentagram, holding a red candle that glowed with a black flame. As soon as he stepped in, the pentagram shined brighter, as if locking him inside. Trapped. He couldn't go back... But he didn't care. It was too late to back out now. As they moved closer together another candle appeared in Scarlet's hand and she handed it to him. "Are you ready for all the commitments that you'll have to make ? To protect me and always stay by me ? To do everything I say, to become my Guard, my follower, my servant ?" And my friend ? Scarlet thought. Nate went on his knee and put his hand over his heart, lowering his head. "I vow to be everything you wish me to be and do anything you desire Scarlet..." He looked up at her as she took out a blade, cut her finger just enough so it could bleed and took Nate's hand as well, doing the same to him. They pressed each other's cuts together and poured the sacred candle's was on it. To protect, to heal, to seal, to bond. They were now bonded together by the unbreakable vow, for better, or for worse...
