"Hello, and might I ask who this is?"
Ran spoke into the phone, unaware of the smile spreading across Nyoko's pretty brown face.
"Hi, Mr. Haitani."
Ran's eyes widened, he leaned back against his bed frame as a lazy smirk broke onto his face. It didn't take her long to call him, just over two hours but he certainly wasn't complaining. He was happy to hear their voice again.
"I already told you to call me Ran babydoll, no need to be formal with me."
Nyoko's eyes widened a bit but she quickly calmed down, trying not to take his comment all too seriously. He must call every pretty person he meets a pet name, yes.
"Ah, yes sorry. So um, I want to know why you gave me your number. Not that I'm complaining! I don't mind, just curious..."
They trailed off whilst they waited for his response.
"Oh? I just wanted to keep talking to you since our conversation was you know cut kind of short. Your voice is rather nice to listen to might I add."
Ran chuckled softly as he put Nyoko on speaker. He pulled off his tie and unbuttoned his shirt just as he had planned to before he got the call.
"Well those are valid reasons, but what more do we really have to talk about? I forgot what I was going to say at the restaurant in the first place."
Nyoko propped her chubby cheek up against her hand, waiting for a response from the older man. Whilst Ran was older than them, she got the impression he probably wasn't too mature. He was 30 while Nyoko was only 24.
"Anything but business. I'm off the clock and I'd rather not think about work. So why don't you tell me about yourself? It makes good conversation and gives me an opportunity to hear that angelic voice of yours."
"If i wasn't thinking I'd think you were flirting with me Mr. Haitani."
"Hm, then stop thinking."
Nyoko let out a laugh, it was almost mocking but Ran didn't mind it at all. All he heard was he made her laugh. That was all he cared about in this moment.
"Very funny Mr. Haitani. I really like jokes-"
"Babydoll, I already told you to call me Ran and I'm not joking. Not in the slightest.
Nyoko went silent on the other line and Ran raised an eyebrow. He waited a minute or two before speaking to make sure she was still there, but no response. He clicked the FaceTime option on his phone to change the call and Nyoko answered but kept their face out of the camera.
"Nyoko?"
"..."
"Look, if you don't like my flirting I could always stop all you have to do is say the word-"
"I've never been seriously flirted with is all..."
She spoke softly. In a shy, almost whisper. Her face appeared in the camera causing every sign of worry to disappear from Ran's face, being replaced his lazy smile.
"There you are, like I said I wasn't joking. I wouldn't tease you like that Nyoko. I swear on it."
He looked at them with sincerity in his droopy eyes, showing he was being truthful. And he was. He wasn't that dumb to play with someone's emotions like that, especially not someone he was truly interested in. He had never been this interested in anyone, and definitely not after first sight.
"O-oh okay. So you said you wanted to get to know me right? So how about I tell you about my hobbies and interest?"
Ran chuckled softly as Nyoko averted their gaze away from his rather intense stare. He propped up his phone on his lamp as he stood up to continue undressing. He told the younger what he was doing and that he was still listening. He hummed in response every once in awhile. He slide off his button up and tossed it in his hamper, then unbuckled his belt. He stopped for a moment to listen to Nyoko better.
