Nyoko was standing on the platform that hung over the floor were production was currently in process. Clipboard in hand, eyes scanning over each section where something different was happening, making sure everything was going smoothly. They checked their watch and saw it time for the line workers to go on their 30 minute break.
Nyoko had been trying to get the line workers longer breaks. They only got two 30 minute breaks and they often worked 16 hour shifts if the second shift got pushed back, or the schedule was just sometimes made poorly. But each time Nyoko would put the request in the 'Topic Box' or brought it up in board meetings Issei would shut it down with a simple yet powerful "no".
A loud buzzer sounded and all of production came to a halt, everyone turning to look at Nyoko. That same feeling she hated arose in her stomach.
"Break time everyone!"
Nyoko yelled out and clapped their hands, signaling that the workers were free to leave their stations. Nyoko took a step back and sighed, maybe they had no right to feel so guilty but they couldn't help it. She knew she was partly to blame, as a leading member there had to be something they could do to make things better and make Issei not so ruthless.
She sighed softly when she felt her phone vibrate, taking it out of their back pocket and looking at the display name. And speak of the devil, it read 'Farher :)' (Emiko put the smiley face). Nyoko took a deep breath as they answered the phone.
"Good evening, father."
"Good evening, Nyoko. I have been made aware of an event that took place last night. Would you like to tell me what happened, I want to hear it from the horse's mouth."
Issei sounded eerily calm, like someone who hardly ever got angry or upset at all. Nyoko couldn't hear anything on the other line besides their father's quiet breathing. Nyoko took a deep breath and leaned against the railing, ring clad right hand holding her phone to their ear.
"Well, I arrived home after my curfew which I am very apologetic for, however Mr. Haitani and I lost track of time. Once I arrived home and tried to explain the situation I was I injured. I am very sorry father, I can assure you that it won't happen again."
"I do not want your empty promises, Nyoko. You know the rules and yet you still broke them, not to mention Ran Haitani slept in your bedroom with you. Do you think that because I am not in the country you can do as you please!?"
"No father, it's certainly not that. It really was a mistake—"
"Who said you could speak!? Close your goddamn mouth!"
Nyoko jaw went slack but they quickly closed their mouth. Issei continued.
"I don't know what you're trying to pull Nyoko, but that stunt yesterday was not ideal at all. You have duties that come before anything else, and I have continued to be lenient on you yet you still can't do what I ask of you."
Issei took a deep sigh and then there was some shuffling on his side of the line.
"Just do what it is I ask of you, simple. Listen to Keyton and Miguel and stay out of people's way. That's all you have to do to make others happy, correct?"
"Yes sir."
"Good answer. You won't hear from me for a few weeks, three possibly but that does not give you the go ahead to slack. If you can't do anything else right at least do your work right. That will be all, if you urgently need me call my assistant. Goodbye."
