"This isn't the way to my house," Maria growls.
"I know," Alex says, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Where are you taking me?!" She questions irritated.
"My apartment."
"Take me home."
"No."
"Take.me.home.NOW!"
Alex slams his foot on the brake, slamming Maria's bruised back against the seat.
She gasps in pain.
Without apologizing, he turns his head and snaps, "ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF!? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU GO BACK THERE! YOUR FATHER WILL KILL YOU!"
Her lip quivers slightly, "Alex...I don't want anyone to speak to me like that."
She looks up at him with tears in her eyes and whispers, "Especially not you."
Then, in one quick movement she unbuckles and opens her door and storms off down the road.
Alex jumps out of his car and runs after her.
"Maria!" He calls after her.
She doesn't turn around.
"Hey!" He says, grabbing her arm.
"LET GO OF ME!" She screams and yanks her arm away, spinning to look at him.
Alex flinches from the look in her eye. It's a mixture of pain and something else words can't describe.
"GET AWAY!"
"Maria, calm down!"
She is hyperventilating uncontrollably.

Maria's head begins to hurt.
All around her are too many different things going on.
She presses her palms to the sides of her head, groaning loudly.
"Maria!" Someone shouts in the distance.
The thing that bothers her most is, the voice shouldn't be in the distance, because it's coming from Alex and Alex is standing right in front of her.
She sinks to her knees with her hands on either side of her.
The road beside them is empty at this time of night, no cars are anywhere near them.
Alex goes into a crouch in front of her and says calmly, "Maria, you need to calm down and breath properly. The only person here with you is me, and I would never hurt you."
Maria meets his reassuring gaze with her eyes tinted with that unknown emotion that scares Alex.
For a moment it fades in her eye and she whispers, her voice cracking, "Alex...help me."
Then she falls onto her side, unconscious.

Hey guys! This is my first author's note, and I just wanted to say sorry that I didn't post sooner, I was grounded. I'm also sorry this chapter is so short, it's short because I posted this at 6:30 am. Yesterday I was at gymnastics and we were doing splits and I stubbed my toe like REALLY hard and my toe nail cracked off so I have to go to the hospital today so idk when I can post next, but I hope soon. I'll try not to keep you glued waiting.
