The Unwanted Bride

Chapter 2

Ella's POV:

"Harry please talk to mother." I begged as I spotted my brother walking through the front door.

He took one look at me and his features hardened immediately ."What's the matter?"he demanded as he placed his bag on the old wooden table,looking exhausted from a long day at work.

"She wants me to marry Cole Davidson."I cried.

Harry stiffened at the mention of the prince.

"Davidson?"he asked in disbelief as we took a seat on the old sofa.

I nodded.

"The royal family?"

"Yes!"I exclaimed.

"That's crazy...you can't marry into that family.I dated his sister for a while,that family is insane!" he exlaimed in horror.

"What?"I asked ,placing my hands over my mouth."You dated his sister?"

My brother dated a princess and I never knew about it?What world was I living in?

He tilted his head looking deep in thought." None of this makes any sense, why do they want him to marry into such a poor family?"He muttered to himself.

"It doesn't make any sense to me either,I don't see why he even agreed to the marriage,something seems very wrong ."I admitted,my anxiousness increasing the more we spoke on the topic.

"But what happened between you and his sister?"I questioned, my mind telling me that I should probably know exactly what occurred  between them.

He sighed and stretched his long legs out in front of us. "When you see Liliana for the first time,you'll notice how incredibly beautiful she is, when I first met her I thought that it was love at first sight.It turns out she felt the same way about me ,however that all changed after I got to know her better. I begun to notice that looks and money was all that she had going for her. She was completely demanding , everything she saw and couldn't have she would make a huge fuss till she got it."He paused and placed his arms behind his head as he leaned back against the soft cushions.
"I knew I could not afford to keep her happy,her personality wasn't nice at all, she enjoys making others unhappy and that's not a nice quality in someone."he mumbled."When I tried to change her , to make her see that she shouldn't enjoy hurting others she got angry with me and accused me of cheating on her."

"Did you?"I inquired.

His eyes widened."Of course not!Mother grew us all up better than that!"he exclaimed rubbing his blue eyes."After that, I told her that I was in love with someone else and that I couldn't make it work anymore.She tried to contact me afterwards but I kept my distance."

I glared at my brother,part of me felt like throwing him off the couch."Why would you tell her such a thing?"I asked in horror.

"It was the only way to keep her away from me, she didn't want to leave me alone!"

I threw my head back against the sofa, if this girl hated my brother then there was no doubt that she would hate me also.Another reason why I shouldn't marry Cole Davidson.

"Will you talk to mother for me then?"I inquired,a little ray of hope making it's way inside me.When he didn't respond I tried harder by rearranging my features into an anguished pout.

Harry looked torn as he tried to look anywhere but at me."I'm sorry Ella."he apologised looking helpless ."We both know how stubborn mother is , there is no way she would listen to any of us, not even dad stands a chance against her."
