Scarlet's PoV:
So... THAT happened. And I can't help but feel guilty because, well... I guess I caused Rose's pain too. Heh, it's not great; I just feel so... broken. Going into space is supposed to be fun... not torture. I don't get why ASAN is just targeting us.
Okay... I feel guilty about that, too. Is ASAN only attacking us again because I'm here? The imposter kid?
Coal and his father are also imposters, so... is that the reason our missions keep getting sabotaged?
Would everyone else be better off without us?
Would they be safer?
Lemon's PoV:
So... it's kinda weird. It's like I've missed out on a whole lot, and I still don't feel properly better yet, but there's no way I'm going into medbay with that idiot. Besides, I need to be with Indie. She needs me...
It's nice here in my room. Really quiet, just me and my little sis; no one else to bother us.
Suddenly, she turned to me. "Did you hear me? When you were asleep did you hear me talking to you?"
"I... no?" I replied, confused. "Y-you visited me whilst I was......... sick?"
Indigo's gaze dropped a little, her eyes beginning to fill with tears. "I missed you" she mumbled, throwing her arms around me.
Frowning a little, I hugged her back. "I'm here now, and I'm not gonna leave you again" I assured her.
I... I don't believe in ghosts, or afterlifes, spirits, souls or whatever... but in that moment, I felt whole. Like maybe I could pretend our parents weren't dead for a while.
Peach's PoV:
Since Rose had gone into medbay, I was just pacing around outside. Lapis, Indigo and Emerald had all tried to cheer me up but I was too stressed right now. I was still curious about what part Teal and Mango had to play in this incident, but I couldn't think.
Finally, after what seemed like a whole eternity of waiting, Black left the room. He seemed surprised when he saw me sat outside.
"Have you been here the entire time?" He asked, and I nodded. "Wow, that's loyalty. You can go in and see her now. I'm fairly certain she's gonna be fine." He assured.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed, briefly hugging him before racing into medbay.
Once again, tears began filling my eyes as I stood by Rose's bed.
"What's wrong, Peachy?" She asked, genuine concern in her voice.
"What's wrong? What's right?!" I exclaimed, "nothing is right. I should've been there for you! I should have seen it coming... after the roof incident..."
"I..." she mumbled, "I wasn't gonna hurt myself then-"
"Then WHAT?!"
She reached over and put her hand on my arm, which made me calm down a little. "I wanted to leave all my problems behind... behind as in leaving them behind in the house, not as in death. But... but I've realised running away wasn't gonna make my problems go." Rose slowly moved her hands back towards herself.
"Because I'm the reason for my problems, not anyone else, they'll be better off without me!"
"You were running away!" I whisper-shouted, but Rose shushed me.
"Which means you couldn't have seen this happening" she claimed.
Frantically shaking my head, I told her "which means I knew that something was wrong. And I should have done something to help, and now it's gotten worse, the problems are getting worse and I was just sitting here doing nothing! I'm... I could have prevented this."
"Nobody could have, because I wouldn't have listened" she quietly mumbled. "You can't deny that"
I paused for a moment to consider this. Neither of us uttered a word for quite a while...
Then Rose began crying, something I'd never seen before.
Without pausing to think, I threw my arms around her. She shifted a bit, and
asked "w-what are you doing?"
"Affection" I replied, loosening my grip a little.
"Ew, no." Rose muttered in disgust, so I quickly pulled away, feeling embarrassed. She's never liked it; why would now be any different?
A few seconds later, however, she pulled me back into the hug. Confused, but happy, I asked "so you like hugs now?"
"Don't get used to it" she grumbled.
Rose's PoV:
I hadn't felt this good in a long, long time. Yet I knew it wasn't going to last; it never does.
Can't I just enjoy the moment while it lasts?
