C h a p t e r 29: Be Without You

Too strong for too long
And I can't be without you baby
And I'll be waiting up until you get home
Cuz I can't sleep without you baby
Anybody who's ever loved, ya know just what I feel
Too hard to fake it, nothing can replace it -Be Without You x Mary J. Blige

"Jon!" I yelled to my husband.

"Yeah baby?" He appeared in the kitchen.

"Umm, did you tell Yanae that she could have ice cream for breakfast?" I asked as I started taking out the contents I needed to make Yanae's lunch for school.

He furrowed his eyebrows then crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't recall."

I gave him that "Really Nigga" look.

"Oh really? Cause now she's hyper as hell."

He broke his serious look then started laughing. "Okay, I did."

"Now she's gonna be off the walls today Jon." I whined.

He came towards me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Don't worry about it babe, she'll be fine."

"Easy for you to say. I still gotta drive her to school and you know how she gets in the car."

"Calm down, I'll take her. Where is she?"

"In the backyard with her dog. Told her to run off all that damn hyperness."

He laughed. "Okay. But don't forget we have that BCRF function Thursday night, well tomorrow night."

BCRF, or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, is very important to Jonathan. He lost his mother to breast cancer when he was only 15. Since then, Jon, his older brother Judah, and their little sister Jonica have been very active when it comes to the BCRF. And because it's October, breast cancer awareness month, I'm already preparing myself for all the events we're gonna have to go to for these next few weeks.

I nodded. "Yeah I remember. My parents have been bugging me to see Nae since they touched down for the party yesterday to. So she can just stay with them tomorrow night then Friday morning I'll pick her up and we'll go dress shopping."

"She's not going to school on Friday?" He asked.

"No." I answered. "We're gonna need the whole day."

"Why not Saturday?"

"Because that's gonna be the last Saturday until the party and too much is gonna be going on. Plus it's just a Friday Jon."

"Okay, just make sure she gets all her work."

I laughed a little. "Jon she's in the first grade. I doubt she's missing anything important."

Jonathan shook his head. "Wrong. I'm pretty sure they're learning how to count or some shit."

"Right, but our daughter is smart Jonathan. She already knows how to count or whatever else those kids are still trying to do." I said.
