Then everything was different...
~
Jonathan Carter.
"It's me baby. Jonathan."
"I don't know a Jonathan." She shook her head.
"Yes you do." My breathing started getting short and my eyes started burning. "We're married. I'm your husband."
"I'm not married. I don't know what you're talking about."
I grabbed her hand and showed her the wedding ring on her finger. "You are. I'm your husband!"
Monique looked confused as she looked down at the ring. She finally touched it then slowly slid it off her finger.
"I don't know how that got there, but it's not mine." She handed the ring back to me.
My heart was starting to break.
"It's yours. We're married." I said lowly.
She looked at me for a while as if she were trying to figure me out.
"I'm sorry. Do I know you?" She asked.
"Yes!" I yelled. "I'm your husband!"
"I don't have a husband. I have a boyfriend and his name is Michael, not Jonathan." Monique said.
My heart broke into a few more pieces.
"Michael is not your boyfriend!" I yelled.
I could feel myself about to break down but then I heard my therapists Dr. Lee's voice in my head telling me to calm down.
I took a deep breath.
"Monique. You and I are married. Michael was done with eight years ago." I said calmly.
"I'm not speaking to you anymore. I wanna talk to my boyfriend." Was all she said.
I felt a few tears slip down my face before I left the room.
