Out of all the clubs that exist at this school...
And they don't have a single Book Club?!
I scan down the long list available, all either sounding absolutely boring or unappealing. I think a third of the list consists of primarily sports groups.
I stop on a particularly familiar word. A word that a month ago, I would look at and cringe, but now I am pulled to. 'Volleyball.'
I run my finger delicately over the black lettering, 'Volleyball Club, Boy's & Girl's.' A small smile graces my lips as I get lost in my thoughts, thinking about him.
'Daichi.'
After our assigned group assessment for literature, the Volleyball fanatic and I have grown, close.
*FLASHBACK*
So, I just put my arms like this? Letting out an 'eek!' as a harsh burn spreads across my forearms. The ball ricocheting off my flesh and is sent flying in Daichi's direction. His large hands catch it easily, regardless of it missing the target. Him.
However, making him reach up to catch the ball isn't such a shame. I did manage to get a slight strip tease as his shirt lifted.
Oh sweet baby Jesus.
A large toothy grin spreads across his face. "Hey, you're pretty good at this." He encourages while spinning the ball skillfully balanced between his middle fingers.
Am I though?
I feel like a bloody idiot right now. "I'm just thankful it hasn't hit me in the face yet." I joke following it with a chuckle, but I am serious. I'd like my nose to remain unbroken, please. thinking back on the horror stories my sister has told me while practising with her friends Dumb and Dumber, aka. Cheeto and Kagz.
This is why I don't do sports.
Why am I here?
Daichi was raving about Volleyball practice early this morning, something about learning a new Receiving technique and a Quick Attack... whatever the heck that is. Regardless of the fact that I had no clue what he was blabbing about, not to mention, he was so excited his mouth was running a mile a minute. I couldn't bring myself to change the topic.
He looks so happy.
Curse his adorable smile.
However, by me indulging him this gave off a misleading 'interest' in the sport. Henceforth, I am being punished for being a good person.
Maybe I should be more like Bitchzilla, at least I can avoid these situations.
"Shouldn't we really be studying? This IS a study period after all, or at least work on our group appraisal." I voice in hopes to return to the safe haven that is the library, free of sports and excessive physical exertion.
His actions pause before passing the ball back to me, which was a shame for two reasons. Number one, because I won't get to see anymore Magic Mike moments, and two, that bright smile of his dimmed.
His arms lower and he looks at the ball. "Yeah, I forgot about that. I guess I got a bit carried away..." Muttering with a guilty smile he scratches the back of his neck, holding the ball in his right hand.
Fucking fucksticks, fine!
Sighing, I take a quick look at his heartbreaking smile. That's all it took to crack. Get yourself together Woman!
I guess we do still have half an hour of this period left...
"We have thirty minutes of this class left. I think another ten out in the sun won't kill us." I shoot him a wink as I return to the 'Receiving' position he took the time to teach me.
