(Y/N)'s POV
School is done and i called Taka-kun to pick me up. He arrived in front of the gates with his usual loud motorcycle and Toman uniform, dragging the attention of practically everyone around me. I said goodbye to my friends as i got on the bike with him.
I put on my helmet and told him to put on his but he denied. As usual. i placed both hands on his waist and not long after, we were off.
As the ride continued, my mind wandered to the events that just happened a few hours ago. I looked at Taka-kun. He seems to be focused on the road so he probably didn't notice but... it's hard to imagine that in the future now... he won't be with me...
I gave myself a mental slap in the face. Come on (Y/N)! focus! prevent the fight between Toman and Moebius before August 3rd and this whole mess can be avoided!
Although... Akira mentioned that he knew a boy who's friend could also jump through time... i need to ask him about this later, it may be worth investigating who this boy and his friend is. if i play my cards right, we might even be able to team-up here...
Mitsuya "(/N)? oi (Y/N)"
(Y/N) "h-huh? y-yes, Taka?"
Taka-kun looked behind at me for a bit before focusing back at the road. i know it was just a split second, but i can tell he's worried about something.
Mitsuya "I've been calling you for almost a minute now, what's going on?"
(Y/N) "sorry! i just have a couple of things on my mind right now."
Mitsuya "and what about last night? you just passed out without warning."
(Y/N) "i don't know what happened last night. maybe for once the night air was a bit too much."
Mitsuya "hm... i think you've had enough midnight bike rides for a while..."
(Y/N) "what?! no! im perfectly fine!"
Mitsuya "still. im not gonna risk it. what do you think would happen if you passed out in the middle of the ride? i could never forgive myself if you got injured because of me."
I stopped for a bit as i notice the guilt lacing Taka-kun's words.
(Y/N) "Taka-kun... were you... worried for me?"
Mitsuya "of course i was! i could barely sleep last night! i wanted to stay and keep an eye on you but your dad wouldn't let me so i had to go home."
a small smile made it's way to my face as i thought about it. well i guess Taka-kun has always been the one looking out for me. It's kinda funny how despite how he looks and the people he hangs out with, Taka-kun is surprisingly gentle and kind of a softie... well when it comes to the people he likes at least.
The ride wasn't too long and before we knew it, we arrived at an outdoor basketball court where i saw many members of the Second Division playing, chatting, and all sorts of other activity. among the 20 or so people, one that stick out was Hakkai, Taka-kun's right hand man and co-captain of the second division. due to being Taka-kun's boyfriend (among other things), i often find myself tangled in Toman's meetings and activity despite not being an actual member of it.
Taka-kun and i got off the bike and began walking into the court. many of the members noticed us and greeted us until we made it to a bench and sat down. A few minutes past of idle chatter between the two of us until we were called by one of the gang members to join them in playing.
Mitsuya "one sec!"
he then turned to me.
Mitsuya "im gonna play. wanna join?"
(Y/N) "sure! got nothing better to do anyway."
*Timeskip*
I bounced the ball up and down in my hand. there's only one thing standing between me and the hoop and that was Hakkai. Fast, Tall as all heck, long arms, and way stronger than me. Going one-on-one would be a lost cause.
I looked around at what i can do. None of my teammates were nearby and i don't see anything that could help me so next option, how to shoot it.
Hakkai is tall and his arms cover a wide distance so shooting left or right is out of the question, shooting it over his head is difficult, not to mention he could easily catch it but... the gap between his legs... now just to work out the arc...
Hakkai "what are you planning over there?" He said with a confident smirk.
I smiled and ran backwards with the ball with Hakkai in high pursuit. Someone from the other team tried to grab the ball but i dodged him.
(Y/N) "Slenderman! Catch!"
I turned around and threw the ball right between the gap of Hakkai's legs.
The ball hit the ground and bounced back up, hitting the rim of the hoop but falling to the ground shortly after.
(Y/N) "damn it! I missed."
Hakkai "holy shit. That would have been pretty epic if it got in."
Hakkai grabbed the ball and slowly walked to me with a sympathetic smile.
(Y/N) "i know!"
Hakkai "hey cheer up. You'll get me next time."
His encouragement brought a little smile to my face. Hakkai gave me the ball and walked past me to talk with Taka-kun.
I faced down and looked at the ball he gave me. I've known Hakkai ever since i was little. Frankly, i know him better than he knows himself. We've been friends ever since we entered the same elementary school back when my family still lived in Osaka.
He was already really tall back then- well at least compared to everyone else. Most of our friends were actually scared of him. He was tall, he had scars all over and he dyed his hair all sorts of bright colours making him stand out as a delinquent. But i could look past his outer tough-ness and saw how pained he was inside so i offered him a hand...
And asked him to be my friend...
