Operation Locate

"Sir, I need your help with something regarding my case."

Agent Okcat looked up from the file he was sorting. "You know I'll help you with anything you need Matthew."

Matthew nodded in acknowledgement. "Chansung’s son has gone missing… I need your help finding him."

"I can't help you with that."

"You can't or you won't?" Matthew challenged.

Agent Okcat stared at him blankly and Matthew glared at him as he tried to work out why his boss wouldn't help him.

"Sir please. Whatever mess Chansung is a part of has nothing to do with Taehyung." Matthew pleaded.

Agent Okcat got up and moved around his desk then leaned against the front of it with his arms folded in front of Matthew.

"I'm well aware of your past with Taehyung that is why I recommended you for this case but I stand by my words, I can't help you. Your mission is surveillance only, any interference will be your dismissal from this case… Do you understand that?"

Matthew grit his teeth then bit the inside of his cheek, he turned to leave but paused in the doorway to look back over his shoulder.

"What I understand from this is that you want Chansung to go crazy. Making him act out would give us every cause to arrest him but did you ever stop to think that you might be playing with someone's life?" Matthew narrowed his eyes at his boss. "But no, I totally understand. You can't help me."

Matthew slammed the door behind him. The anger that was simmering before was now boiling his blood. He really had to do this on his own even though he could be dismissed, he had to do it for Taehyung though. The idea of his boyfriend being in any sort of trouble had him worrying.

Matthew took a breath to calm himself. 'Okay. Think Jinseok, if you were a fully trained spy with all your memories what would you do?' Matthew thought to himself. 'I don't remember who I can trust.'

He turned his head left and right looking down the hallway before an idea popped into his head. He made his way down the hallway and through the government facility until he came to the technology department. He pushed the door open and casually strolled in over to the head of the department who was busy teaching one of his subordinates.

"Are you the head of the tech department?"

The smaller blonde streaked brunette paused his lesson to get a look at who was speaking to him.

"Yes I am, what can I help you with?" He asked in English.

Matthew nodded his head to the tech guy's office. "A word in private." Matthew replied, also in English.

The guy nodded and Matthew led him to his office. Matthew closed the curtains and the door so no one could see or listen in. The tech guy went and sat at his desk.

"What can I help you with BM?"

"I need you to trace a phone."

"If this has anything to do with your case I want to help you but I've been ordered not to."

Matthew walked over to him and grabbed him by his jacket collar then looked down at the guy's name tag. "Mark, is it? Let me tell you what's going to happen to you if you don't help me right now. I might not be able to trace phones on my own but I sure as hell am able to find out where you sleep at night. I will torment you and any family you have for the rest of your pathetic little life, you'll never sleep again."

"You've always been such a self serving prick." Mark said seriously then chuckled and pushed Matthew’s hands away. "Good to know you haven't changed."

Matthew looked at him with confusion but Mark logged into his computer. "What's the number?"

"Uh," Matthew grabbed out his phone and looked up Taehyung’s number which he then read out to Mark.

Mark took his time locating the phone, a map popped up on the screen with a blinking green dot.

"That's weird." Matthew commented.

"Does that mean something to you?" Mark asked and looked at him quizzically.

Matthew pat Mark's shoulder. "Just delete this for me and don't tell anyone what we talked about."

"Yes sir." Mark said obediently.

Matthew left Mark's office while Mark deleted the search history. 'I know where I need to go but I'm going to need help getting in..' As if a higher power was on his side he ran into Agent Three on the way out of the tech department.

"Three."

"I've been asked to keep an eye on you Sunbae. Agent Okcat thinks you might be up to something. We can't have you breaking protocol again." Three said as he slipped Matthew a bit of paper. "Don't be surprised if I follow you."

"You aren't a very good spy if I know you're following me." Matthew teased with a low chuckle, slipping the paper into his pocket to read later.

Three smirked. "It's a good thing we aren't spies then."

Matthew gave a curt nod and San did the same. Somehow they were on the same page and despite minimal interaction with him Matthew had a gut feeling that he would be the one person he could trust in any situation.

"I hope you have some news for me Mark. I can't have my star agent going rogue again."

Mark looked up at his coworker who liked to claim superiority over him despite them being heads of two different fields of industry.

"Matthew asked me to trace a phone." Mark answered honestly.

Agent Okcat growled. "Of course he did. He's going after the boy." He grumbled to himself. "Were you able to find it?"

Mark nodded and logged into his computer, pulling up a map that was different to the one he showed Matthew.

"He's headed for Gwangju."

"Give me the address. He will need our help, he can't do this on his own and we certainly can't have his target reach it first."
