I wake up as Nova carries me through the air. She's holding my arms.
"N-Nova?" I ask.
"Oh, good, you're awake!" she says, relieved. "Skeleton King's effects must be wearing off. You probably shouldn't talk until we land in the robot."
In that instant, the Super Robot comes into view. We land in the escape hatch, where Chiro and Jinmay are about to leave.
"You guys can go," I say. "I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?" Chiro asks.
"Yeah."
"Here, take this," he says, tossing me something round and silver. "We were going to bring it to you, but you're here now." I hold the oval object in my hand. It has a black lightning bolt with one dot on either side of it and a retractable antennae.
"A communicator," I say, turning it over.
"Just hold it down when you need to talk," Chiro says, "and push this button for an emergency alert signal. It'll transmit to all of us and we'll use the built-in GPS to find you."
"Thanks," I nod. "I'll call you guys if I need to." They jump out the escape hatch towards the others.
I sit down on the edge of the escape hatch, my legs dangling off the side. I pin the communicator to my dress like it's a brooch.
Well, we came here so I could practice. Why don't I practice? It'll probably take the pressure off some of the others. Hmm... what should I practice on?
The sky's sort of dark. There are stars, but they don't light up. Suddenly, I remember a song from Annie. I take a deep breath.
"Under the glow of the very bright lights
I turn my face towards the warm night skies."Suddenly, the stars shine brighter, but it's a calm glow. It does feel warmer; a cozy warm. I smile. In an instant, my forehead makes me cringe with so much pain that I fall forward, tumbling out of the robot and towards the ground. Thank goodness there's not that much gravity.
I gasp and sit up. Skeleton King. There was a big fight, and he hit my head. Now, there's something in my mind that tells me I'm weak and can't fight, making me not fight in the first place. After that, he sent me all the way across the universe, billions of light years away to Earth. I was born on Earth in the first place, but my parents sent me to Shuggazoom when I was a baby because of World War III. When I returned ten years later, I had no memory of anything concerning Shuggazoom, my powers, or the Hyper Force. People picked on me because I still managed to stand out and be different. I was a nerd and a geek, and really shy. I'll admit I'm also a little bit of a hippie, since I go green and love nature.
And Skeleton King held back my memories for years, but Shuggazoom brought some back.
I want revenge.
