The rays of sunshine shone through the ash-gray curtains. Hitting the ground in the room, it brought light into the dimly lit room. The fragrance of lavender that lengthened the slumber of the two still lingered.
Haechan woke up first as always. Ever since Yun had been staying in his room, his mornings became sweeter. He looked forward to waking up to see the person he loved beside him. It was his small happiness that he knew wasn't reciprocated.
The connection between them was definitely stronger than before. He couldn't tell whether it was the connection that soulmates share before the revelation. Either way, he knew that he loved her and that was enough to make his heart start doing somersaults.
"I'll do anything to see you with me every morning," Haechan whispered as he watched her sleep soundly. He would often notice the habit of her stealing the blanket. Whenever he woke up, he found himself without the blanket while she was snuggly wrapped around it. "I want to be your soulmate so bad. I just don't know if you want me as your soulmate and that scares me to death."'
All he could do was confess to Yun's sleeping figure. He didn't have the guts to initiate a relationship. If only the soulmate system didn't exist, he would've already pursued her. The odds were against him yet again, just like how it was in his past life.
His day officially starts off with cooking breakfast for the two of them, a smooth but classic way to win her heart. He started to take cooking classes when he had heard from Yun's mother that she enjoyed eating though it was usually because of stress.
"Perfect," a smile was present on his face as he complimented the food that he had freshly cooked. It took him two years to perfect every dish he knew that Yun loved. He luckily knew because Yun's mother was on the chatty side. "I'll clean up a bit."
Yun hated places where it was noisy and messy. He heard from her mother that Yun would clean and sanitize her room every day. He picked up the good habit of cleaning regularly because of her.
"Now that it's clean, all I have to do is wake her up."
He believed that in his past life, he wasn't dedicated. That's why he was determined to put more effort into the present time. He wasn't even sure if those recurring dreams were bits of his past life but the determination to not follow the mistakes shown was overflowing.
"Although I'm lacking, I hope that you can accept me wholeheartedly," Haechan lowly muttered before entering the room. To his surprise, Yun had already woken up as she was sitting on the bed. "Good morning to you. Seems like you just woke up?"
"Yeah. I slept like a brick yesterday thanks to the lavender scent," Yun mumbled in a groggy voice. She turned her head to face Haechan and saw a smile on his face. "What put you in a good mood?"
"You," Haechan chuckled. He leaned against the door frame as he pointed behind him with his thumb. "Breakfast is ready. Make sure to eat before leaving if you have any place to be at."
"I'm staying in today. The past few days have been hectic and tiring," she responded as she was feeling pain all over her body. She couldn't tell whether it was because of the soundless sleep or the exhausting past days. "I'll join you then."
Hopping out of the bed, she made her way to join Haechan in leaving the bedroom. They walked side by side until they reached the dining area.
"Wow, this is one of my favorite dishes!" Yun's eyes widened while her face had brightened up. Nothing was better than her favorite food in the morning. She turned her head at Haechan who had a proud smile on his face. "How did you know?"
"I remember hearing it from your mom when she would bring fruits to our house," Haechan answered. He was happy to hear it that day. He had practiced it and it was the first dish he mastered. "I decided to cook it since there are ingredients for it here."
"You're the best, Haechan," she complimented the boy and sat down eagerly. She couldn't remember the last time she ate her favorite dish. Her mother rarely cooked it. "It tastes heavenly!"
'All my hard work paid off' Haechan thought while admiring the girl in front of him.

"Do you have a nail clipper, Haechan?"
Yun casually searched his room, trying to find one. She looked over every corner but she ended up thinking that it might be in one of his drawers.
"Yeah, it should be in one of those drawers," Haechan answered as he pointed to the place.
She headed over to search through the cabinets, but when she was about to open the upper left drawer, Haechan had stopped her. He grabbed her wrist and separated it from the handle.
"Not that one," he said as his face was filled with panic. "My undergarments are there."
Flustered, Yun avoided his eyes.
"You could've been more specific on where it was," she blurted out. "Just give me it, please."
Without responding, Haechan reached out for her hand and placed the nail clipper on her palm. Just as Yun was about to walk away, she was pulled into a hug by Haechan.
"What's this hug for?"
"Nothing, you're just so cute when you're flustered," Haechan's words of honey made Yun feel her cheeks heat up. There was a short-lived chuckle from Haechan when he had seen her rosy cheeks. "This may be sudden but I'll be honest."
Deep inside Yun's heart, she couldn't help but feel nervous. It had only been a couple of days and yet her heart was beating for someone she practically knew for less than a week. It was a strong battle between using her mind or being carefree about everything.
"I really don't want to rush you but don't you want to take things faster considering that we only have one month?" Haechan proposed as he pulled back from the hug to meet eyes with Yun. "I'm willing to take any risk, but are you?"
