"Here, our library has hours for students only, Dazai. The librarians wanted to have more time for students to actually have time for themselves." Oda spoke in a calm voice as usual, "There's even a music room - but it's only for classical music or projects. No trumpets or things like that. People can come over and play music while others read."
Dazai smiled, "You seem happy now, Oda. Thank you." His voice was calm and softer.
The taller man shrugged, "Well, yeah, I'm naturally a happy person."
The younger shrugged a little, "Up for debate." Oda chuckled. Although he was like 23 he acted more of a dad than Dazai ever had.
"I'll be here if you need me." Dazai nodded and headed off to find a book from the library.
All the sections were separated by genres, all in a nice row and order. Dazai wasn't looking for a book for school though, he barely just finished actually, he was looking for a passing time. One thing him and Oda liked was reading, though Dazai found it boring sometimes. Not this time though.
He was in the thriller section. He saw a variety of books, but none of them were as good. Now that Dazai moved more away from the library desk (which was far away on the other side of the library) he was nearer to the music room. There was a faint sound heard. A melody. Dazai paid no attention to it. The thriller section was getting more boring and so he shuffled towards the psychology section.
The psychology section was next to the door of the music room. There Dazai could hear the melody more, it was one of a cello. The cello showed no vast feeling, it was intense, yes, but it had a tone of something that Dazai couldn't describe. There were no sad notes or happy ones - it felt weird and kind of comforting. Even though Dazai wasn't here to snoop around, he couldn't help but to try open the door a little to see who was inside. It was hard to tell though, but the person looked lost in their own little world. It was like a world where they found peace.
Dazai was able to feel that same peace once he closed his eyes. He imagined a life of clear happiness. No pain. No harm. No fear. No sadness. No people. A world where he could be alone. Although Dazai was more extroverted, he was done of being pitied when he did show some sort of sadness. And even if he needed that pity, he would be laughed at and ignored. He'd rather live in a world where there was only Odasaku and Ango.
That's the perfect life of peace he wanted.
"It's okay, I can see you." A voice called out.
The brunette tumbled and got up quick to open the door. It was quite a shock. He laughed, "If you knew I was here, you should've said something." Dazai still walked inside the room.
The boy sat on the seat, who had his head turned at Dazai, spoke in his Russian accent again, "Ah. I'm sorry. Sometimes I get carried away while playing the cello." He smiled. "What is your name?"
"I am Osamu Dazai."
"Glad to meet you, I am Fyodor Dostoevsky."
"Aha. You're from Russia, right?" Dazai asked.
Fyodor smiled, "Yes. It is pretty noticeble. I've been to Japan before though."
Soon, Dazai just grew more curious, "How long? You seem to have a steady tone... Just some words need practice."
"3 years ago, I'm surprised I remember anything."
The two had a laugh together. To Dazai, Fyodor's laugh was adorable. It was a light chuckles and he always seemed to cover his face when he did laugh.
What a beautiful tune.
