The statement catches her completely off guard.
"No, not really." Oh my goodness, his hair is so soft. How come he didn't have any split ends?! That was just unfair.
"I think... I think you should give it a try." She scratches his head lightly, just behind his ear as she attempts to process his unexpected statement.
"Oh do you now?" It suddenly occurs to Hermione, how comfortable she is with Draco's head on her lap.
"Yes. I think... I think you'd surprise yourself." What was that supposed to mean?! Hermione's hands drift, slowly... To his neck, and then she begins to massage his shoulders. What if someone walked in now?
"That's... That feels nice." He states, smiling.
"Well duh, why do you think I'm doing it." Hermione replies, laughing. Malfoy buries his head deeper into her lap
"You know. I think I misjudged you, Granger." His voice is almost full of ambiguity.
"Draco Malfoy. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were complementing me." He sits back up and Hermione's hands fall from his shoulders, then onto his chest.
"Well... You'd be correct." Then they actually smile at each other. Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger smile at each other. Their eyes meet...
"Your hands are still on my chest."
"I know." Her hands move slowly from his chest and to his face. She caresses his cheek, gently. He takes Hermione's hands in his own and places them around his neck. Draco's grey eyes meet Hermione's brown ones... He inches closer... Then a bit more. She can feel his cool breath on her lips.
"Not tonight, Draco" she says, seeming to snap back to reality before laughing and pushing him away. "Not tonight." Malfoy simply continues with their potions project; quill in hand.
