If you are a twenty something Indian child, you would be well aware how annoying weddings can become for you.
Weddings after twenty are no longer about food, dance and joy. They become a conquest of how to dodge questions such as 'When are you getting married?' 'How much do you earn?' 'Aage ka plan kya hai?' which are thrown at you by some random aunties and uncles who you no longer remember.
This scenario doesn't change much even if you're a star Indian batsman. And this was exactly why Dev was hesitant in joining his family for a wedding that happens to be of his cousin.
He had tried everything. From sweet talking his mom to making promises of next time but it looked like she was determined to take Dev along and she did too.
Right now, Dev sat squished between two aunties who apparently were his fans and we're planning a matchmaking for him. In between, a bunch would come and ask for photographs and autographs which we would gladly give.
How he wished there was a way he could escape this!
"Suniye aapko koi waha bula raha hai"
Was that a voice from heaven? Because to Dev it certainly felt like one. Not only was it a savior but it sounded like a melody.
Dev turned to find out who came as an angel in disguise for him. Comes out, she actually was an angel.
Standing there, looking heavenly in a white suit that suited her dusky skin tone just perfectly, was a girl. Unlike the girls he has met here, her eyes didn't quint looking at him nor did she show any signs of surprise.
She just stood there, with a small smile, looking at him earnestly.
Much to the aunties dismay, they had to let Dev go. And he couldn't be more thankful to her for that.
"Who is calling me?'' Dev didn't want to ask her this question. He wasn't ready to let go of her just yet but he had to unfortunately.
"No one. I just guessed things were getting intolerable for you with those aunties so I made up something", Dev smiled at the girl. How sweet it was of her that she went beyond her work to help him.
Going by the kind of dress she wore, a plain white suit paired with a multi - coloured dupatta, Dev was sure she wasn't a guest there.
