Caught in a lie

Next day

At office

She arrived at her desk shortly after greetings with her fellow colleagues. She carefully pulls out a packet from her bag and goes to return it to the rightful owner.

*knock*
*Knock*

After knocking lightly she hears a faded voice, "Come in." She slowly opens the door and bows toward his boss who's eyes were all over the files and papers.

Clenching the packet closely she walks over to his desk. "Thank you,"bowing a little she puts it on his desk.

Jungkook finally faces her seeing the same pink packet that he had sent her last night in order to attend the party with him before calling her. She was ready to leave but his voice stopped her to do so. "Why are you returning it?"

She softly smiles, "Sorry sir, I can't take it, I really appreciate your thinking, thanks for the gift but I am really sorry."

He paused for a moment before humming with a nod taking the packet and throwing it on the dustbin. She stopped, taken aback at his actions, "Why did you do that?" "Well, I thought you don't wanna take it, I mean you can't take, so why worry about it?", he shrugged as if nothing has happened.

She scoffs murmuring, "As expected." "How's your health tho?" he asks her again eyeing through his papers. "Good." "I see, you didn't ask for a sick leave, that's good. I like the dedication." She fakes a smile, she doesn't want to make any argument in the first of the morning.

In the cafeteria

After attending two hectic meetings, going through all chemical files, and obviously ignoring all the sudden unwanting stares from her colleagues she finally excused herself to take a break. It's already become evening but she was so busy that she didn't even get the time to take lunch. She sat herself on the chair with a huff and a frustrated sigh. What's all with these looks and whispers around her throughout the day?

Her very thoughts got interrupted when someone's hand tapped her shoulder. She turns around to meet with the owner of the most sweetest angelic smile. "Mind if I join you?" "No, please do the honour."

Jimin smiles a little before seated himself infront of her. Surprisingly Jimin was following around her today a lot, trying to make a decent conversation here and there. Whatever the cause maybe, she puts them on a side as she can't wait any longer, her food is literally calling her to devour it. Without any thinking she attacks her burger. "Wow someone is hungry," Jimin states taking a spoonful rice. "Don't mind me please," with her mouth full of food, she managed to say.

"You know, you can easily resign from here and get another job, what's stopping you?" "Where did it come from?" "Umm, I mean, the tantrum of him you always suffer there, from the past few months, isn't a lot burdensome?"

She smiles in confusion, "No, Jimin, it's okay."
Yeah she calls him now Jimin, he successfully managed her to call him by his name.

Jimin tilts his head in confusion, "Yeah, sure."
She furrows her brows, one thing is sure, his head is full of confusion and something is bothering him and it's suppressing himself to let all out.

"Is there something wrong?" she looks at him with narrowed eyes before sipping her soft drinks. Getting no answer she shrugs her shoulder and bit another big portion of her burger but stopped in midway as Jimin started to speak.

"Look, I don't want to be noisy, it's your life obviously but the thing is, it has become an official issue as that company is our biggest rival and you are soon to be his secretary. I just wanna say be careful and I am not mad at you, surely you lied to me that you're single, but eventually you were not, I think you didn't want to share your personal stuffs too much and that's completely fine. Anyway congratulation dear."
