Chapter Four: Ghosts

First off, it's bringing me a lot of comfort to write for you guys again. And I just want to say thank you for all your support so far, it really makes my day. I also changed my username as I prefer this one over my previous one. However, I will be starting college in about a week so updates will be slower than usual. So during that time, I will focus on gathering ideas or rewriting the other book. I am also thinking of publishing a one-shot book for Enolive ideas that won't be associated with this book, but I'm not too sure if that's what you guys will want because updates would be slow but you'd at least get a short story until the next chapter for this book. My schedule for college allows me to be free on weekends as well as Tuesdays and Fridays, so if I'm not busy or overbooked with homework, you can expect me to write. But until then here is chapter four! (It's a long chapter x)

"So all that, and you still didn't get the invisible boy?" Ronny asked. "I was caught off guard by Miss Peregrine the moment I grabbed Enoch," Vanessa replied, tending to the wounds on her face caused by the Ymbryne. "Plus, it's not like I could've gotten him to begin with, the dude is invisible," Vanessa added. "That's what I was trying to tell you but you were so consistent in trying to capture him to even realize," Ronny told her. "Look, I'm sorry. And you know I don't apologize often, but I guess I was too busy focused on trying to reunite with my cousin," Vanessa said. "And you think kidnapping him was the best way..?" Ronny asked. Vanessa turned to look at her friend, her arms folded against her chest and she bit her lip.

"He has kids. Daughters. Which means he has a wife. He's changed, yet I still took him," Vanessa replied. "Look, I'm not here to tell you what to do, I physically can't, considering I'm just a normal guy working with a bunch of peculiar people who could rip me apart if they wanted to, but you've got to let him go," Ronny said. "Let him go? Ronny, he's seen where we are, he's seen who I am. He doesn't remember who I am but he knows he knows me from somewhere. If I let him go, he'll run back to Miss Peregrine and tell her everything and that's my ass on the line with Caul," Vanessa told him. "Miss Peregrine and her children were the downfalls of both Mr. Barron, who kidnapped Miss Peregrine, Jason, who kidnapped the pyromancer, and John, who kidnapped one of the kids, why do you think that this time will be any different?" Ronny asked.

"Mr. Barron was the closest to redoing the experiment to help them become immortal and live outside of loops and he and his friends would have succeeded if he hadn't underestimated them," Vanessa responded. The them being the peculiars that were under Miss Peregrine's care. "Jason would have succeeded if he didn't become obsessed with the pyromancer," Vanessa added. "And lastly, John didn't know what he was doing. He never had any clue, he just did things without thinking and so it's no surprise he got killed before he could return the souls to Caul," Vanessa said. "I know each and every peculiar in that house, I know what they're capable of and I won't make the mistake of underestimating them," Vanessa added. "Miss O' Connor. Mr. Reed," A voice said from behind them.

Vanessa and Ronny turned around and came face to face with a wight. "Caul wishes to speak with Miss O' Connor," The wight told them. Vanessa raised an eyebrow before looking at Ronny and shrugged. "Keep an eye on them," She told Ronny, pointing to Jake and Enoch in the corner, before walking out of the room with the wight following behind. A groan was heard from in the corner and Ronny closed the door behind Vanessa and the wight before walking over to the corner dragging a chair with him. The first person to wake was Jake which caused Ronny to smirk as he sat down in front of both guys. "Who the hell are you?" Jake groaned. Jake was confused, and Ronny knew he was. Vanessa kidnapped them and he expected to see her standing in front of him. Not him.
