"Hey, Kurtie I'm sorry about yesterday. I shouldn't of said those things, so to make it up to you I bought these!" Zac said excitedly to a sleepy Kurt, who was still lying in their bed.
He looked up to see Zac holding two tickets in his hand for 'Wicked' then stood up to inspect them more. He noticed the date on them: next Monday. The day of the trial.
"Don't worry about that, it was nothing but erm, I'm already going out with the girls on Monday and I'm busy for the rest of the week." He didn't know why he was busy, Quinn had told him it had something to do with their little 'plan' last night.
Zac's back drooped slightly, obviously disappointed but trying not to let his emotions show. Instead he decided to go out with his friends, and stay away for a couple of nights to give the trio space.
Kurt felt bad for the boy. Even if he wasn't in love with him, he had always been there, at least as a caring friend.
He didn't want to push Zac away, but the press were itching to release his name. It was bound to happen, but all Kurt wanted, no needed, was to be able to live his life in peace.
Over the past month, his anxiety had gotten worse, with the attacks happening more frequently. He used to be the way Kurt coped, but now he just felt like a lost cause.
That was why he got lost in his thoughts so often, it was currently his only form of comfort that somewhat worked. Yes, the girls had helped him overcome a few of his attacks, but they also weren't him.
"Kurt!" Rachel shouted up the stairs, once again grasping Kurt away from his thoughts.
"I'll be down in a minute Rach!" He called back, quickly jumping out of bed and putting on a hoodie and joggers... not his usually style, but still did wonders for his body.
He tried to be as quick as possible, this could be it. He could finally find out what this 'plan' of their's is.
Meanwhile, Rachel and Quinn were sat downstairs trying to figure out how to explain this plan to Kurt. There was a chance he'd hate them, but they didn't have any other option.
Rachel wanted her brother back, and Kurt needed his soulmate.
Once Kurt arrived downstairs (after almost falling twice) the girls went silent.
"Right, can both of you just stop?! I know you're trying to hide this 'plan' or whatever from me, but I'd rather you just said it, okay?!" Kurt spoke louder than usual, shocking both girls and leaving them all speechless, in an awkward silence.
The three were stood, Kurt on one side with Rachel and Quinn opposite, all searching each others eyes for clues.
The silence was shortly broken by a syncopated knock on the door. Panicked glances were passed between the girls, as Kurt opened the door to a Latina woman with long dark hair.
"Hello? How can I help you?"
"I take it you're Lady Hummel and Berry obviously didn’t tell you what her plan was then?"
Kurt was shocked, he didn't know how to react.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I guess I'll have to explain seen as these friends of yours don't seem to be able to pass on a simple message." The woman gestured towards Rachel and Quinn as she let herself into the house. Kurt still stood, staring and starstruck, unable to form a coherent sentence.
"Right, I'm Santana Lopez, private investigator. These two hired me to look into the Chandler Kiehl case. I take it you're the boyfriend with no name?"
"I guess. But the trial's on Monday."
"Well we better get working then, mustn't we?"
Over the next hour the four sat in the living room discussing what would happen over the next few days.
Tomorrow Blaine would be coming to stay with Kurt and the girls. He'd get the day to settle in.
All the papers had been signed, allowing him to stay in fixed accommodation, in this case, Kurt’s house... The house soon to be without a spare room.
What Kurt also didn't know (up until now) is that Hunter and Sebastian were coming back for the next week. Originally, they were coming to attend the trial, but now helping in the case.
After all, they needed as much help as they could get to save him.
Considering Nick and Jeff were already in Lima, they could travel to and from the house each day, without too much hassle.
Kurt knew they wouldn't be much help, but he appreciated the thought without a doubt.
"Well, I can't stop for long. I'll be back at 8:30 tomorrow morning with Anderson and any other munchkins that have decided to help out."
"Thank you Santana, we're really grateful for what you're doing," Quinn said, reaching for Rachel's hand.
"Wanky," Santana muttered under her breath.
And with that she was gone.
Kurt finally realised what was happening. He'd have to see Blaine, and knowing his friends, they'd probably make the two ex lovers share Kurt's bed.
Well, just when I thought this couldn't get any worse, thought Kurt.
He really needed to lie down. Maybe he could just sleep through the whole week? At least Zac would be out of the house whilst he is here.
"Are you sure you're alright with this Kurt?" Rachel's soft voice came from behind him.
"Yes, I just don't know what I'm supposed to say to him. I have all of these thoughts and feelings running through my head. I mean, what if he did do it? What if I loose him Rach? I might hate him, but I can't loose him!"
He never imagined he'd be fighting to save him in the next day.
