Kelly's POV, January 14th 1979

I was at a party tonight, which wasn't a bad thing necessarily but it wasn't my first choice of things to do. Most people liked a party, some people didn't which was okay... me? When circumstances made for it I loved a party but I had to be in the mood but tonight wasn't one of those days.

The only reason I'd even agreed to come here was because all of my friends were attending and one friend in particular was insisting I went with her so I felt like I had to come, it was a party of people I didn't really know in a neighbourhood about fifteen minutes by car from my house.

One of the friend in our friendship group knew one of the organizers of this party and the instructions was bring as many people as you want and so hence why everyone and their moms dog got invited to this party. Not literally but I wouldn't be surprised given how many people were actually here.

The person who lived here clearly had money but so did I so I didn't really bat an eyelid of the lavishness of the place I just chose to enjoy the party as much as I could.

There was good entertainment, I'll say that much, there was your typical party games like beer pong and the pool was filled with ripped dudes and chicks in skimpy bikinis and there was also a band playing who I'm told are friends of the kid who's party this is.

They were pretty good, they were a cover band but a decent one and as the songs went on, both me and my friend, Alexandria, noticed the singer of this band kept looking over at me, finding me in the crowd.

Alexandria nudged me and said into my ear "I think you've got an admirer in that guy. If I were you, I'd go for it, he's kinda cute."

"Really?" I laughed "I don't think he's my type."

"You never know unless you try." She smiled and looked back towards the band and I did the same. Yeah, the singer was attractive with his tanned skin, blonde hair and exposed chest but he seemed like the kinda guy who'd take you on a date then just flirt consistently with the waitresses serving you.

But I couldn't judge a book by its cover.

I carried on enjoying the performance for another song but unable to stop looking at the singer who kept looking at me and when one song ended and another one began one which was slower and closer to a ballad, the singer made eye contact with me again.

But this time he toned up his act from just looking at me, this time around he beckoned me over to him and with Alex egging me on to go over I decided to play his game and I did as he asked, walking so I was infront of him and once I got close he serenaded me with the song never breaking eye contact as he did so.

I enjoyed the attention, not that male attention was something I was short of but it made a difference that I actually did find this guy attractive.

For the rest of his set, he continued to sing to me and make all the other girls around me jealous because he was hardly acknowledging them, looking solely at me and the self confidence boost that gave me made me feel really good, I knew the kinda guy this man was. He was player, he liked all the attention from girls and I did kinda feel privileged that he was looking at me and only me since he started singing.

When the band finally called it a night, the singer smirked at me after saying a goodbye to the crowd and winked before disappearing into the swarm of girls which followed him.
