Third POV***

"Stanley."

Ford was going to fall before Stan caught him. His clothes were ragged. Ford hurried turned off the machine.

Ford mumbled.

"What did you say?"

"The Pinetree in that demon's cipher wheel. The pine tree is what he's looking for." His voice cracked with every word.

He had grabbed a gadget and looked at Stan.

"What..."

Stan thought about the kids, maybe they were a part of the cipher wheel.

"Before you go searching, let's get you cleaned up." Stan spoke.

Stan wiped small cuts on Ford's arms and face. Ford got really antsy and stood up once Stan finished cleaning the last cut on his face. He grabbed the gadget again.

"Stanford, wait, I have some kids in the attic, maybe we can check them." Stan proposed.

Ford contemplated searching the town's people but he'll start on these kids just to get them out the way. Ford sighed. He nodded. Stan guided Ford upstairs. Once they got to the attic they spotted the children sleeping. Ford hovered the device over Mabel. A shooting star appeared. Ford was surprised she was apart of the cipher wheel. Though she wasn't a pine tree so it's fine. Now the boy is on the other side of the room. Ford noticed something. A blue book with a pine tree symbol. There was silence as they both stared at the book. Ford wanted the book. He grabbed it but the boy started to cry. Ford left the book alone and hovered the gadget above him. It didn't show right away. The small screen on the gadget went from blue to black.

The gadget went again from..

Blue.

Shooting star.

Black.

Blue.

Question mark.

Black.

Blue.

Black to Blue to Black once again.

It went white.

Blue.

Black.

Blue.

To triangle.

Black.

Too yellow.

To Fez.

To Sixer.

To a shooting star.

Then it went black for the final time. Ford thought the machine malfunctioned but there was a lot of doubt. He shivers as it turns on again. His eyes widened to what he saw. The screen cracked. The Pinetree symbol glitching on the screen. Ford furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at the boy. Stan trembled as he remembered taking the book from the crying boy. As well scolding him for pushing Mabel. He was broken out of thought when Ford picked up the child. He carried the boy down to the stairs. Stan followed behind him. The boy cried more, gripping his book and necklaces as he slept.

They headed to the lab. Ford puts him in a corner of the room. Chaining his wrist. He stared at the sleeping boy. Never in his life thought the demon would choose a mere child.

"Stanley, what is the boy like?"

Stan looked at Dipper, "he is very um... he is a sweet kid but he seems scared to be around people. He disappeared into the woods once and came back smiling. That was the only time I saw his eyes spark with happiness. Any other day his eyes were broken, looking for something. He trembles when people come too close to him. Also he had one of your books. I took it and he balled his eyes out."
