- 7:56 AM: Shortcut to school -

Just like everyday, Ryuzaki takes his usual route to school. It's just a plain sidewalk with some trees here and there, but it's very pleasant to walk down during the spring. It was relatively hot outside and Ryuzaki made the mistake of wearing long baggy clothes, but he tried to brush it off. His scruffy black hair was only making the heat worse.

He looked up and  squinted at a black leather notebook and a pen sprawled out on the pavement. Out of curiosity, he skitishly walks over to the book and tries to pick it up, but it burns his hand due to it being in the sun. He attempts to pick it up again, but this time using the tips of his fingers to make sure his whole hand doesn't burn again.

Once he manages to hide it in his backpack, he see's Light and Misa walking towards him. He panicks and gets off the ground to greet them.

"Hi Ryuzaki!!" Misa yells out while leaping in to hug him.

"Oh, hi Misa, you look nice toda- AH!" Ryuzaki yelped out in shock.

"Come on Misa, stop bothering Ryuzaki so he can get to class." Light lightly taps Misa's shoulder.

"Hm... I guess you're right, c'mon Ryuzaki, let's hurry!!" Misa replied energetically, grabbing his hand while Light follows behind.

Honestly, Ryuzaki's never liked Misa all that much. First of all, she's Light's girlfriend. Ryuzaki had known that he really really loved Light ever since the 7th grade. Ryuzaki's not the type to get jealous, but having to be the third wheel on every occasion gets tiring. It's very hard to watch someone live out your dream while you quietly watch. Of course, there's nothing Ryuzaki can do to break them up, or is there?

- 8:25 AM: Classroom 1-A -

Fortunately, Light and Ryuzaki had a few classes together away from Misa, but Ryuzaki never gets to talk to Light considering he's very set on listening to the teachers and completing his work, he'll throw crumply paper airplanes at him if he seriously needs his attention.
Ryuzaki found the current subject irrelevant and boring, so instead of participating, he spaced out while looking outside from the big window in the class.

All he could do was think about Light. His beautiful light brown locks, his deep dark eyes.. Ah! Everything about him was so dreamy to Ryuzaki! Until his mind drifted to the notebook he found 30 minutes ago, it said something but he didn't quite catch it, was it a name? Maybe it was a book and that was the title? Whatever, he had time after school to check it out.

- 12:00: Lunchroom -

Ryuzaki leisurely walked into the lunchroom that was connected to the gym. He saw Light and Misa already sitting down at one of the front tables, he decided to join them. Ryuzaki sat down next to Light considering Misa was on the other side of the table.

"Hey guys, do you mind if i sit here?" Ryuzaki questioned

"No, not at all, feel free to sit with us anytime, we are friends after all." Light replied in a gentle tone.

"Yeah, Of course you can sit here! We love your company Ryuzaki!" Misa smiled sweetly.

"Thanks, Sooo.. Light.. Was todays lesson hard for you?" Ryuzaki brought up because he couldn't think of a different conversation starter.

"Pretty simple stuff, why? We're you not paying attention or something?" Light teased.

"Uhm.. Yeah, even the birds outside were more entertaining." Ryuzaki claimed.

"School isn't about being entertained, Ryuzaki, I'm not sure how you maintain such good grades anymore." Light sighed and put his shoulder on Ryuzaki.

"Listen, if you ever need help understanding the homework, then I can help you, alright?" Light reassured Ryuzaki.

"T-thank you Light.." Ryuzaki cheeks turned a soft pink at Light's silky voice, which was very noticeable on his pale skin.

Ryuzaki stutters whenever he's flustered or embarrassed, most people shrug it off and just assume that he's shy, but it's a whole lot more suspicious when he does it around Light so often. It's quite hard for Ryuzaki to hold a conversation with Light, just the sound of his voice could make Ryuzaki a stuttering mess.

"Hey, Ryu? Are you ok?? You're spacing out again." Misa pointed out, waving her hands in front of Ryuzaki to get his attention.

"Oh, yeah, sorry. I'm not feeling too well today." Ryuzaki replied, picking at his fingers.

"Awwww! Poor thiiinngg.. Do you want to go to the nurse's office? I can take you!" Misa cried, holding Ryuzaki's hand to guide him over to the nurse's office.

"Uh.. Sure.." Ryuzaki got up from his seat and followed Misa.

"Bye Ryuzaki, hopefully I'll see you tomorrow." Light smiled gently, waving at Ryuzaki.

"Alright, goodbye Light" Ryuzaki waved back.

- 1:23 PM: Route back home -

Well, he didn't have a fever, just a minor headache, but just to be safe they let him go. The air around him had cooled down, so the walk was quite pleasant. After 20 minutes of walking he finally turned a corner and saw his house a few blocks down. He ran down to his house and entered in.

Ryuzaki opened the door to his crammed room and flopped down onto his bed. He knew what he had to do next. He reached into his bag and grabs the black notebook from earlier. He dusts off the cover and analyzes it for a moment. 'Death Note' huh? How silly. Ryuzaki just assumed it was some normal notebook, buuuttt... He had to at least try it to prove how bullshit it is. He couldn't kill some innocent person for his experiment, so he looked up a log of criminals who have been jailed recently.

He opens the notebook and writes in the name of 'Sora Hanamura', one of the first criminals to appear on the website. He sat there, staring into the notebook intently, but then it hit him, it's not like he'll know if he died or not, unless? He thinks for a second on how to confirm his death. He refreshes the page and Sora's profile had already been removed in seconds, Ryuzaki was in awe at what had happened, there was no way that was a coincidence. He stared into the screen and got a great idea.

If he can prove to himself that this notebook 100% works, he can use it against Misa with no troubles.
