Bennett
17 Years Old
I followed Kayle in the house trying to keep my eyes everywhere but on her. It wasn't easy, after being her first kiss, I wanted to be her first everything. My life sucked, my home life that is. I got by with only what was deemed necessary by my parents. Then worked my ass off for Mr. Weaver during the summer just to have new shoes, and the dirt bike that I bought off of them. He tried to give it to me but I refused. I don't do hand-outs.
I've grown up with nothing, convinced that my parents never wanted a kid. I was born addicted to meth and my grandmother took me in and raised me until I was 8 and my parents showed up forcing her to give me back to them. I learned quickly how to take care of myself, since my Mother was always high mostly on meth but changed it up sometimes, and my Father was the same plus drunk off his ass. We weren't actually poor and that was the problem. They basically had an endless supply of whatever they wanted.
Being given food was few and far between, and by the time I was 11 I met Colt. I was too embarrassed to tell him the shit that was going on, but he knew something was even that young. Maybe he had overheard his parents or something because I was quickly being welcomed over for dinner and sleepovers on the regular. They became my family.
In Colt's room without Colt here was just a little weird but I grabbed a pair of his pajama bottoms and changed into them meeting Kayle back in the kitchen. Her smile could make me do whatever she wanted as I followed her out to this random ass shack looking thing I never knew was here. She opened the door and it seriously was like a camp cabin. It was big enough it had what looked like a pull-out couch and a set of bunk beds, along with a kitchen and what I was assuming was a bathroom behind the one door. This place was sweet.
"Come here." She smiled and pulled me to the couch. "Help me pull this out." I did as she asked after setting down my jeans and she plopped down on it. "Lay down." She gave me a silly look. "I want to show you the best part." I shook my head but laid down on the couch next to her but kept my eyes on hers. "Look at the ceiling." She giggled and turned her head.
"Holy shit." I looked up and it was like the ceiling was made of glass. You could see right out and the stars were so bright.
"My favorite view." I looked back at her smile.
"Same."
"I'm talking about the stars." She shook her head.
"I'm talking about your smile." I shrugged, and she turned so she was on her side facing me.
"Was I at least a decent kisser?" I laughed turning to face her.
"Meh." She faked being hurt and pushed my shoulder. "You could use some practice."
"And you're offering? Smooth." I shrugged again.
"Got to shoot my shot somehow." She shook her head.
"I don't like want you to think that I'm like thinking were boyfriend and girlfriend or anything like that just because you kissed me." I let out a laugh.
"Didn't even cross my mind."
"Good. Also, for the record I wouldn't mind you offering to practice with me." I huffed out a small laugh before brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. She leaned a little closer so I took the chance and kissed her again. We laid there and made out for hours, and I held her some in-between. Until the sun started to come up. "I need to get back to the house." I nodded.
"Going to attempt to get into mine."
"If you can't, just come back. Everyone will be home around 10." I nodded.
