Kayle
15 Years Old
I waited for Bennett to make it outside. He and Colt were the only two out of all of us still inside, and I was worried. I didn't realize I was holding my breath until the door opened and they both came out laughing.
"So, we doing some chicken fights?" Cole laughed splashing Kase. Sadie walked outback with Trevor on her hip and Kase quickly got out of the pool. I couldn't help but smile watching him walk over and kiss his girlfriend then his son. Seriously, the cutest. Then he ran back over and did a cannonball into the pool right next to Cole, because well he's still a child. Sadie walked over and sat at the edge of the pool and let little man kick his feet in the water.
"Last one in sucks!" Jensen came running around the corner and jumped the same time Colt and Bennett booked it and jumped in pushing one another laughing. They all hit the water at the same time.
"Y'all are so dumb." My best friend yelled as she rounded the garage side of the house.
"Dylan!" Cole yelled right before Kase pushed him under.
"Dumbest." I giggled into my hand and smiled over at her knowingly. She had a massive crush on Cole, like it was insane. Just how she looked at him, even though she's never confirmed it to me, I just knew. Cole came back up for air.
"Dyl, you coming in?" She shook her head.
"Nope."
"You sure?" He pulled himself out of the water and stalked toward her.
"Positive, no suit." She smiled.
"Well, sucks for you." He picked her up, tossing her over his shoulder and jumped into the pool while she screamed. I laughed safely dry laying on one of the chairs.
"Oh Kayle." I looked at Bennett now standing over me the tank he was wearing dripping wet.
"No." He smiled and pulled me over his shoulder kicking and screaming the entire time. "BENNETT THOMAS WATSON, I SWEAR TO GOD!" He laughed right before walking off the edge into the deep end. I popped back up above the water and smacked his chest. "Rude." He just threw his head back and laughed. Seeing him this carefree just being a kid made my chest tighten. I knew he was going through some crap at home.
"Not sorry." He whispered in my ear before he swam away. I bit my lip and looked around, the only person that had their eyes on me, Dylan. I shook my head and she looked away hiding her laugh.
Bennett ended up spending the night, even though it was a school night and I was able to actually sleep because of that. Waking up Monday morning and seeing Bennett sitting alone at the table eating made my day.
"Hey." I sat down next to him.
"Hey." He smiled over at me, still looking sleepy and it was adorable.
"Where's Colt?"
"Showering." I slid a little closer to him, and watched him smile wider. "It's hard enough not to kiss you every time I see you, you're just making it harder." He laughed. I shrugged with a smile.
"I wouldn't mind." He took the last bite of cereal from the bowl, and looked like he was thinking, then drank the milk and wiped his mouth before looking over at me and shook his head still smiling. Quickly he leaned in and softly pressed his lips against mine before getting up and clearing his bowl.
"They'll cut my manhood off." He deadpanned, but I saw the slight smile. I let out a giggle and watched as he headed back upstairs to get changed. Colt came running downstairs.
"What's with your cheesy ass smile?" I shrugged. "Did you eat the rest of the, never mind." He grabbed a box and two bowls before walking over to the table. "Did you eat?" I shook my head. "Here."
