Twitter Battle
Today is a regular workday. Unfortunately, I am currently sitting in front of Casey and his father-in-law.
They are trying to convince me that they will get me my money in full in a month's time.
They said that last month.
"Mr. Roject, Mr. Steels, this is not like rent. This is not a common 16 hundred. This is in the millions. May I ask why it's gone this far?"
Casey stares me down, "you know both of my parents are in custody. Their account has been frozen. I am their source on the outside."
"You say this as if it's my fault-"
He snaps at me, "IT IS! My father has blessed the feet you walk on, and you couldn't do one simple thing-"
Roject tries calming him down.
"The last time I checked. Arranged marriages are illegal. Kidnapping is illegal. Child endangerment, in this case, is a felony. And you were the one who called the police on your own mother. I was not handing over my brand and life for a man, and I still won't. Now leave. You will be hearing from my attorney."
I now have a button under my desk for protection reasons. When Casey aggressively steps towards me. I press it and Winston comes immediately.
Roject is begging me for another chance.
"Mr. Roject, I like you. We were great partners before you signed it all away. But right now you have no power in this situation. But if you gain back some ownership or have your daughter genuinely active in business, I will be open to seeing you once again. And if that once again is in court. So be it." The thing is the Steels brothers that are married to my partners never showed themselves till I met them all at that dinner. Their father in law's came to my meetings alone. So now I have to see them every time I meet with their inlaws as they are seriously taking over. It pisses me off because they are making things worse, not better.
With that, my meeting is over.
My employees are so gossiping about me.
I laugh to myself heading down to the break room.
The room falls quiet.
I make my drink with my back to them, and I say, "you know these cameras have microphones. I don't know what's gotten everyone in a mood, but if you have questions, you can speak with me like a normal person."
"Miss Baylor, is it true that you just dropped ties with the Senior Steels?"
I laugh and turn around.
"I felt generous. He has one chance before I see him in court."
"No offence Miss Baylor but you have gone soft. Where's the secrecy? The taunting? The full-out badass behaviour?"
I think about it, but someone else shares their idea, "she has nothing left to prove. The people know she's strong on her own. They know that she never needed the pity to rise. That's badass within itself. And no one comes between her and her business."
I grin, "Cristiano, I like that answer. And I feel like I don't say this enough, but without you all, I don't know how I would've made it this far. Keep up the great work." I grab my folders and make my way out.
Oscar is now in my office.
He looks pissed.
"Why do I feel like you are going to accuse me of something?"
"You can't go a day without your face being plastered-"
I sit, "what are you angry about?"
"I was dumped this morning. And the reason was you are too protective over me. Five minutes ago, Casey Steels took to online to say that you dropped him because of his brothers. He mentioned the competition and everything that went down with Cedric. Then you know more backlash because you closed the building yesterday and worked 15 hours on the corner of Decker and Decker. Who's the guy Sofie?"
