the next day was a lot better for asahi. he woke up just in time and soon amaterasu was at school with her little butterfly coat. asahi smiled when she ran away, screaming a loud "love you, daddy!" and entering the building. the scene actually made him chuckle, asahi loved his little girl so much.
he also didn't get late for work, taking his normal walk without a single stop. this had everything to be a good day.
asahi entered the studio and soon was notified that the photographers were late, so his work would take a bit longer to actually start. that was when he checked his phone for the first time and saw a notification. asahi immediately read 'nishinoya café' on his phone screen and let a small smile cross his face. asahi felt like a teenager with this whole nishinoya situation.
nishinoya café: goodnight, asahi :) sorry for the late reply...i forgot my phone at home
asahi thought for a moment... how should he reply to that?
me: oh it's fine,,anyways, how are you?
and before asahi could think twice about sending that reply... he already had. well, now he couldn't just delete that, nishinoya had already seen the message.
aahh it sounds so embarrassing... it's been so long since i've done this... i need suga's advice now, i don't have any work to do anyways.
and with that thought on his mind, asahi started to look through his contacts to find sugawara's number. his friend was a teacher, a middle school one, so now he was probably on the morning twenty minutes break. asahi questioned for a moment if he should call his friend or just text him the whole story.
call, talking is better... i have to go outside so no one hears me though.
and so he did. tapping on the call button, asahi walked out of the studio, going on a little walk as he waited for suga to answer the phone.
sugawara finally answered, the first thing asahi heard though was an exasperated tired sigh. it made him giggle at his friend. "The kids are bothering you today?" asahi asked, trying his best to not strike suga's nerves with that.
"apparently not a single soul in here can stand kanji basic learning." sugawara sounded tired and it was barely 9am... poor guy. he liked being a teacher though. "anyways, why'd you call?"
"oh-" asahi started, already having forgotten about the fact that he was the one who started this call, distracted with sugawara's disgrace. "a lot happened yesterday and we didn't talk but long story short, i'm texting a guy and it's awkward. i think." he explained, blushing at the thought of how suga's face must look like.
"back at it, i see..." suga spoke in a joking tone, giggling for a moment. "well, just be yourself, man. you're an adult, i'm sure you don't need my advice to talk to people." and with those words, asahi could swear he heard sugawara's smile on his voice.
asahi sighed, obviously a bit frustrated even if the way suga spoke made him smile. "well, yeah. but my last relationship was five years ago, i don't know how to do this anymore..." as he complained, suga swore he could hear the pout on asahi's face. "like, he seemed to be cool... we barely talked yet. but i don't know what to talk about."
"my break is almost over, just get to know him. also, go to work and don't overthink much right now. bye." and before asahi could even reply, suga hung up the call. leaving him to stand there on the street.
asahi sighed, starting to walk his way back to the studio while checking his notifications. he soon found out that nishinoya had already replied.
nishinoya café: pretty good, the coffee shop has less people today...just letting you know if you wanna stop by later :)
asahi smiled, then sighed. thank god nishinoya seemed to be one to easily start conversations.
me: can i stop by now? i don't have work yet today, a coffee would be nice
before asahi saw what nishinoya replied, he decided to change the contact name to something more informal... he was starting to have a good feeling about talking to this guy.
nice noya: of course :) why don't you already tell me what you will want so it's ready when you get here?
nishinoya was being so nice it even made asahi walk a little faster, smiling like a dumb teenager.
me: if you'd be so kind, just an iced coffee for today, please
nice noya: got it, will go back to work now, see you later, asahi-san
asahi chuckled. for all he knew, nishinoya could be older than him and be around here using that honorific with him. it was cute.
and so asahi made his way to the coffee shop, for some reason nervous to see nishinoya again. well, he kind of knew why he was nervous. asahi found nishinoya cute, seemed like a good guy and was being extremely nice. he felt his stomach flutter like it hadn't in years.
soon enough asahi was in the coffee shop. there was five people in line so he didn't think twice before standing behind the last person. but he soon found out he didn't even need to wait in line.
"asahi-san! over here, your coffee." he heard nishinoya cheerfully call for him and when he turned his head to look at the counter, there he was, grinning. asahi blushed a little, walking away from the other people and approaching the counter, standing in front of noya on the opposite side from him. "thank you... how much-" asahi spoke as he held the drink, soon being interrupted by nishinoya. "nothing, this is on me." he said with a giggle and asahi only felt his face burn more, quickly sipping on the cold drink to try and cool down a little. "i'm the boss anyways, i make the rules." and then asahi could hear a yell from somewhere inside the shop. "i'm also the boss and i say you have to pay for it if you don't want him to!" asahi laughed at that, covering his mouth a little to not offend nishinoya too further. "i will pay, idiot! just let me sound cool for once!" and with that, asahi didn't cover his mouth anymore, laughing at them. wow, this guy really is something else.
nishinoya was grinning at him even if he was being made fun of, maybe noya just liked to make people laugh doesn't matter what.
after the little laughing outburst, asahi calmed down. he smiled at noya, his cheeks still a little flushed with pink and red. "thank you, nishinoya." he hummed, nodding lightly as he drank another sip of the coffee. "but i have to go now, work and stuff." he announced and nishinoya quickly nodded. "of course, asahi-san. i also have to get back at it anyways..." and with another grin from nishinoya and a small smile from asahi, he walked out of the coffee shop.
back to work, with a coffee in hand, and weird fuzzy feeling on his tummy. asahi smiled as he walked a bit faster, he didn't want to be fired, after all.
