"i swear to god, dude!" nishinoya heard tanaka complain as soon as asahi left the shop. a whisper that felt like a yell to him. "you can't just go around offering coffee to everyone you meet and expect it to just not be paid. we get out just losing because of you." tanaka explained, for the millionth time, and nishinoya sighed as he finished washing a cup.

"i know, man, sorry... i already paid with my own money, don't worry." he had a grin on his face, trying to ease tanaka's nerves. tanaka glared at him, sighing and shaking his head at the smaller man. "fine, i just don't want you wasting money on someone just so it ends up like last time."

nishinoya frowned. then looked down and quietly placed the cup on the counter.

he wanted to walk away, hating the topic tanaka started, but he decided to speak. "last time was different. i'll be careful." it was uncharacteristically quiet, the way nishinoya spoke. tanaka then put an arm around him and kissed his temple, he knew what he did. "i'm just worried, man. but i trust you to take care of yourself." tanaka also spoke quietly, so quietly that only nishinoya could hear his words.

nishinoya hummed at him, nodding in understanding. tanaka grinned at him and pulled away again. "okay, back to work now!" he said excitedly and it made noya snort happily, going back to work.

the day of work at the coffee shop was normal, just like most days. there was times in the day that they had way too much work and times where they didn't have absolutely anything to do.

nishinoya was just finishing closing up when suddenly something distracts him, a cat. he quickly opened the shop's door, grinning as he made the black cat come inside. no one was paying attention to him.

the cat was a bit scared but entered nonetheless, it was almost 9pm and probably too cold outside for it. nishinoya closed the door behind the animal and soon sat on the floor. "come here..." he said quietly, tapping his lap. and the cat actually walked to him.

"what do you think you're doing?" nishinoya heard tanaka speak ever so suddenly, also hearing yamaguchi's snicker behind him and feeling the other two stares. "adopting this cutie." nishinoya grinned again. he looked down at the cat and slowly pulled it to his lap, giggling when the cat actually laid down and closed its eyes. tanaka sighed.

yamaguchi couldn't help how adorable he found the animal and soon he was kneeling on the floor and sitting on his heels right in front of nishinoya. "we're not getting a cat, don't even think about it." terushima said to yamaguchi, knowing that was what he was thinking about. and tsukishima hummed, agreeing with terushima. "i'll live with noya-san then..." yamaguchi mumbled, everyone knew he was joking.

yamaguchi reached a hand out and slowly started to move his fingers on the cat's head, getting the animal even further sleepy.

"alright, it's a good moment but we have to go now." tanaka spoke up, and everyone mentally agreed. nishinoya stood up, holding the cat on both his hands and close to his chest. "i'm also a boss so i say i go now to take care of this good boy, yes, it's a boy, i know. and you guys clean up and close, bye!" and before tanaka could complain nishinoya was out. he did hear a faint "what if it's already someone's cat?" from yamaguchi though.

nishinoya didn't care. if it was someone's cat he would definitely give it back, but for now it was his cat.

he walked down the street calmly, the cat was surprisingly tired and clingy and didn't move an inch, making it even easier for noya to drag him around. it was when he found a certain someone.

asahi was there, in front of him, holding a kid's hand. they were walking the same direction as him so nishinoya had to speed up to catch them. "hey there, man." nishinoya said with a grin, surprising both of them. the little girl and the big man flinching at the same time.

"oh, hey nishinoya." asahi greeted and all three of them slowly stopped walking. the girl climged onto his leg, a bit scared to meet someone. asahi leaned down and held her in his arms. "bubble, this is nishinoya-san. he's my friend, okay? he's nice." asahi explained with a little smile and the girl nodded. it was the cutest thing nishinoya has ever seen.

the girl turned her head to nishinoya, a hand in her mouth as she mumbled the words out. "hi... nish- nishi..." she pouted, the name was hard for her. "noya-san." nishinoya spoke, encouraging her to speak, and she grinned. "noya-san." she repeated happily. "i'm ama... tera... su." the girl introduced herself and nishinoya nodded. "nice to meet you, amaterasu-kun."

they slowly went back to walking, the girl leaning down on asahi's shoulder as she started to get sleepy. "so... the cat?" asahi asked, looking down at where the animal laid on nishinoya's arms. "oh yeah, i found this good boy and now he's mine." nishinoya explained with a grin, obviously happy about having a cat.

they stayed in a bit of an awkward silence after that, walking slowly because even though none of them would admit it, they wanted to spend a little more time together. "so... the kid?" nishinoya mimicked asahi. "is she your niece or something?" asahi chuckled at the question, it was always the same question. as if he couldn't have a kid. "she's my daughter actually." and as soon as nishinoya heard that, he could finally understand why they seemed so much closer than an uncle and niece probably would.

wait... am i hitting on a straight guy?!
