∆Part 3∆|You're reading now the part 3 of a story; part 1 and 2 available too|
She knocked three times, that was their little code since she had memory, so it became a habit.
"Who is it? I haven't asked for room service!!" That arrogant and bothered voice confirmed that he didn't remind their code, as probably didn't care about it. His voice resounded throughout the door, Ericka just tapped her fingertips three times as well, "Great-grandfather, why haven't you greeted me?" Sarcastically raised her eyebrow, until the door slammed open.
"Young lady here you are" Van Helsing hugged her unexpectedly forcefully for his strength, "I missed you" Abraham admitted as walking inside his room to keep installing his things.
Dully roaming her eyes to the room she sat in a small couch. "Why so happy?" Ericka couldn't help it, she had to say something like that. Any person could say that she was being rude. But Ericka knew that her great-grandfather was acting different. Her great-grandfather had never hugged her like that.
"I can't be happy to see you again?" Van Helsing kept his eyes in the luggage, pulling out some blankets. That made Ericka hasty, "What are you even doing with those blankets? Why do you brought all of that here? What kind of trickery you're planning?" Ericka disrupted whatever he was doing to make him look at her.
"I know you can't trust me, but I changed, I support whatever you love, that master you love"
"It's count!" Ericka roared between teeth, "I just hope you're saying the truth".
"These are some blankets I wanted to give to you and Dracula" Van Helsing handed the folded red and white blankets.
"Sure" Grabbing the blankets she strode and stopped at the doorframe, "By the way, we'll wait for you at dinner" Ericka closed the door and sighed. Could it be true? Have he changed? It could be perfect, he accepting what she loved made her grin, and wait inpatient for the dinner.
...
They waited anxious for Abraham, even if they'd deny it, everyone was thinking about him. How he would behave; maybe the same as always. Nonetheless, everyone got slapped in the face that night.
"Hi Mavis, Jhonny, little ones -referring to Dennis and Winnie- Mr Vlad, Count Dracula and my dear Ericka" Saying that while giving a whole round to the table. Van Helsing mounted his engines in the just-elaborated bench that Ericka made for him -Hence his lack of legs.
Laughing at the jokes slighly, normally, without being exagerated or too serious. This was suprising not just for Ericka, for everyone. Maybe he's tired of being the annoying one. Ericka thought. Ericka of course was disposed of accepting her great-grandfather changing. We all change, if you want to know, just look at me. For the first time ever, she had never thought she would have a nice dinner with her great-grandfather in a million years.
After dinner, she strode to Abraham, before going to sleep to her room -They talked at dinner they were going to a hike like a family tomorrow morning.
"Thanks for acting like tha-" Abraham interrupted her as saying, "I wasn't acting".
"Sorry, wrong choice of words, I mean that you were really being kind with everyone, like you'd really feel comfortable with this" Ericka crossed her arms lifting her eyebrow. It's nice that he's changing, but there has to be a reason for this.
"I'm comfortable with this, young lady. And now what? Is that weird I'm changing?" Van Helsing started pushing her to the hallway to her room, "Yes!" Ericka said as now showing herself willing to let Abraham alone. "I just hope that you're really changing! see ya tomorrow" She achieved to say as she disappeared through the hall.
Ericka opened the door and all she found was an empty bed. She thought Dracula would be there, as he left a while ago. She sits on the bed and let herself lay on the bed looking at the ceiling. Out of nowhere, Dracula startled her by appearing in a bust of purple steam. "Drac! Oh my God!", She turns and face the sheets occulting her panicked face.
"Sorry, Captain, I just wanted to make you feel anything else than fret. I've been feeling you worried about Van Helsing, maybe he's trying to change" Dracula don't really thought about that possiblity so convinced, but he tried to make Ericka's worries trail away.
"Why would you picked fear then? I mean I could feel love too" Ericka mentioned in an alluring voice, approaching to him. She hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I'm fine, just I don't want this to be one of his unpredictable plans", She start giving kisses in every inch of his face.
"Well, he can't make a move alone, right? He has no longer his body, or strength, and you're not there to help him again. Last time, you were the one who recovered the "family heirloom", if he would've gone by his own, I don't think if he could have got away of there alive" Lessening the tension Drac twanged nerviously and stood. "Buy I couldn't have made it alive anyways, you saved me" Ericka clarified.
"So we worked together for his plans" Drac ducked getting in front of her. Looking up, their eyes met, he stood slowly -eyes never breaking connection- although those lips were tempting, he kissed her hand like the queen she was for him and then her forehead.
"I'll take a bath, and I'll go cuddle" Drac broke eye contact and went to his wardrobe, took purple pajamas and to the bathroom.
Old school, She thought. Even though she had never been with someone before, she knows how relationships works, relaying herself with books, and movies she watched.
In old books and movies that her great-grandfather'd given her; couples, usually have their first time -sleep with each other- after marriage.
In the new books and movies that she'd got by buying them at ports, with the money her great-greatfather had started giving her since her 15's, to buy clothes she likes and stuff; couples usually have their first time... whenever. Well Dracula has like 500 years, she didn't care anyway, she just loved him.
They slept and cuddle. As if their thoughts faded away for a moment. Don't caring about what his great-grandfather was planning, or maybe thinking in her possible paranoia of him wanting to make everything fall apart. Don't caring if he could do something before marriage. Utterly inebriated with their presences. They just slept, like babies along the night.
Until the morning -night- woke them up with Jhonny broking in their room.
He slammed the door so hard that wake them up by a frightened jump.
"God Jhonny, you won't need a stake to kill me if you keep waking me up like that" Dracula touched his chest resembling as if he really felt a stake piercing his heart.
"What happened Jhonny?" Ericka bemused yawning and sitting up.
"Mavis sent me to tell you, Ericka, that your great-grandfather is not in his room and we found this on the floor of his bedroom" Jhonny's voice was stammering and cracking, but he achieved to say so. He handed Ericka the piece of yellow paper while saying, "Mavis was going to tell him about, where we were going to go for the hike, and as nobody ansewered the door, she got in and found that. I think someone... hijacked him".
Ericka gawking directed her hand to her mouth as reading. Her whole body grow goosebumps, and got pale as Dracula. Drac approached to read the note embracing her shoulders to calm her shocking.
"Ericka Van Helsing we've trapped your great-grandfather, if you don't trip to Amsterdam 5th backstreet with 400.000 bucks in two days, we'll make his years left fade in a minute girl, don't talk to the cops, we know who you are"
They know me? How? Did my great-grandfather told them? Ericka thought, amongst a bunch of inquirings that were not even thought. She couldn't even form a proper word now than just cry.
Her tears poured slowly tracing her cheeks, while she wallowed herself inside Dracula's chest. Whom already read the note. Just listening Dracula's heartbeats and whispers saying that everything is going to be fine.
