Daddy Fury & Spidey Son (AU)

Part 5

The day after Steven never returned. Days turned to weeks and weeks to months. No one knew about his whereabouts. Peter got little better throughout the months . Two days before New year. Richard started being paranoid since last month. This worried Mary a lot , he then finally spill the tea about hydra agents hunting him and her for the research and they had somehow located them. He said a week before new year, Mary didn't know how to react to that. They had to set things in , leave Peter to someone who actually can keep him safe and sound.

The really hard part of the whole hydra agents hunting for them was leaving peter for his own good. They didn't know what to do about it. Richard had met his brother after all this years. They had a fight and Richard had walked out years ago. Apparently Ben was happy his brother reached out to him during such dangerous situation. Richard didn't mentioned about Peter.

The following day they took Peter to Ben's Apartment. Ben's wife May had invited them with bright smile on her face , it only got brighter once she saw the little boy hugging his mom's leg. While May kept Peter distracted. Richard filled in about the legal guardianship , as he didn't want his son to get hurt in cross fire. Nick Fury was out of reach. It didn't matter though with Peter being unaware of his Parents, it was quite easy to convince he was their son.

May and Peter had got attached in few hours. Peter liked his Aunt May. Ben motioned May into the room to get some privacy .

Ben:  I know Richard was really rude back then, but seeing him in this situation , we have to help him May.

May: * nods in understanding* I get it Ben, what about the kid though?

Ben: is it okay with you , if we adopted him, May ?

May : it's won't be problem Ben, besides I have always longed for a kid *smiles*

Ben : Perfect, they're leaving for good  , papers are ready we just need to sign.

They both walk back to the living room. They signed the papers. Mary was crying and Richard was trying to be calm. He didn't like to leave his son but for his own safety he has to, his safety was more important than their lives , he know they're not gonna see him again. Peter watched adults talk in distance , clueless what was going on. Mary walked to peter. He kissed his cheeks , tears streaming down her face. She placed her forehead on his ,  squeezing her eyes shut , tears running down her cheeks. A soft hand touched her cheek , cold yet soothing , she opened her eyes to peter wiping her tears with his hand. He looked confused. Mary hugs him tightly one last time before pulls away. Richard kneeled to Peter's eye level , tears threatening to spill from his eyes . Peter Brown eyes looking at him . He hugged him , ruffled his hair " be good , pete. Uncle Ben and Aunt May will take care of you. I am sorry I can't take you with me. This is for your safety. Forgive Mom and Dad. Okay" he places soft kiss on his curly chestnut brown hair.

Richard rushed Mary through the door , and a firm grip stops Richard. He turns and look , peter was holding his hand. He hadn't spoken a word now he that he understood what's going on . His parents were leaving him for good no for his safety. Tears threatened fall from his eyes "Dad" he says. " I'm sorry" Richard frees his hand from Peter's grip and gets into the car. They drive away as Peter stood there looking a bit lost. May quickly hugs peter and guides him into the house. Ben was concerned as Peter hadn't spoken much since he came here.

Ben: *soft voice* kiddo , you ok , come here *opening his hands for a hug*
Peter: * hugs* will they be back uncle Ben?
Ben: *sighs* I don't know Pete.
May: does sphagetti for dinner sounds good honey ?
Peter: *nods* I like sphagetti. Mom usually made it during my birthday.

That night he slept with his uncle Ben and Aunt May. The following morning Ben and May cleared Ben's study into Peter's room. They tried to make it look as good as possible. When Peter woke up they showed him to the room , he liked the light blue color stripes with white , a bed near the window, a study desk with a computer and rolling chair. There was side table placed to the bed with his and his parents photo . He walked to the table and picked the photo frame up , tears starting veiling in his eyes. 

What If they never came back? Did they not like me ? Did I do something bad ?

Now he was full on crying silently , may guided him to bed . They both sat their , his Aunt May wrapped her hands around him after she asked him if she could. When she received a nod then she did, she had noticed how he flinched when she touched him the first time so she asked before doing anything. Ben was concerned , yes, it was all new to them , but he knew peter fit right in.

Ben was mechanic though a genius , he couldn't get a job the matched his intelligence. He did what he could. May worked as head nurse at the city hospital.

For few weeks peter didn't talk much , a word or two is all he spoke. But eventually he warmed up to them , a word to sentence and now he always rambles about so many things which they find hard to understand but still they might listen him , with a fond smile. He was their kid. From the complexity peter spoke about clearly explained he was so smart for his age.And that's when Ben decided he will enroll peter in STEM school no matter what. He frequently bought science magazine for peter ,which he loved to read. While May didn't quite get it at all. She just well would smile whenever peter rambled.
