Your eyes narrowed in annoyance as you wandered around the empty home. You woke up very early in the morning due to your phone's noisy notifications going off, and you hadn't fallen asleep since then. If that wasn't bad enough, there was also no breakfast waiting for you on the kitchen table and no Splendid inside the house either. Needless to say, it wasn't the best way to start off the morning. You wanted food.

"The man kidnapped me! The very least he could do was make me some breakfast before he left." you mumbled, dejected at the thought of no pancakes this morning. Walking into the living room, you stumbled upon the front door and paused. Did you dare? You anxiously checked your phone for the twentieth time this morning. Regardless if Splendid was here or not, you were honestly planning to go outside anyway. You had to.

You placed your hand on the doorknob hesitantly, as if an alarm would go off if you twisted it.

If he found you outside, what would your excuse for leaving be? Maybe you could say you left to find him so he'd make you breakfast. You weren't blessed at cooking, after all—you knew he knew that, so surely he'd believe that's why you left. Besides, what could go wrong if you left for a few minutes?

You should've known better than to ask questions like that in this cursed town.

~~~~~
Splendid let out an aggravated sigh, glaring at the smirking male in front of him. Splendid hated this man with a burning passion, especially since he was just an off-color version of himself. Their bodies, their powers—pretty much everything about them was the same and this fact aggravated both men to no end.
"Why did you call me here?" Splendid asked.
"What, no 'hello, I've missed you' or anything? How rude, it's been so long since we've seen each other!" Splendont teased, though he sighed when he was met with nothing but a blank stare. "God, you're boring. I just came here to give you some valuable information, but if you don't want it, then I'll be on my way," The redhead rival said, nearly flying away. Splendid yanked the back of Splendont's cape before he could literally blast off.
"What is it?"
"It's about the town. They're mad at you...I wonder why," Splendont sarcastically mocked with a smug expression on his punchable face.
"Are you kidding me?" Splendid growled and smacked him upside the head before he could deflect it. "Don't you think I know that?!"
"Wow, angry much? (Name) really does bring out the worst in you. Maybe I should take her away~" Splendont said, grinning widely as he narrowly dodged a punch from Splendid. He fully intended to piss off his immortal enemy this morning. He knew it was a bad idea, but he couldn't help it.
"Do you like her?" The rage was thinly veiled in Splendid's voice.
"Who knows? Woah—!" Splendont yelped when Splendid grabbed him by the neck. Looked like he poked the bear too much this time. "Damn...she really does...have a bad effect on you," he choked out when Splendid tightened his grip. A normal person's head probably would've burst from the pressure being applied, but these two were something else.
"I've finally found happiness. She's the best thing that ever happened to me and I..." Splendid stopped momentarily, digging his fingers into Splendont's neck, "don't intend to share."
With a swift kick to Splendid's stomach, Splendont shook himself out of the bluenette's grip and wheezed. "Tch, and they call ME the villain," he scoffed, rubbing his sore neck. "You ungrateful asshole,  I don't want your girl! Sheesh, and to think I came all this way to tell you that Fliqpy has Kryptonut."
Splendid merely stared at him, unimpressed. "You came here to tell me something I already knew?"
"..."
Silence followed, which quickly became awkward.
The redhead put his hands in his pockets and stared at the ground. "Err, well, I wasn't completely sure if you knew..." Splendont admitted, sounding somewhat sheepish.
"You...You do realize that I have super hearing as well, right? I literally heard the town meeting happen."
"Well, how the hell should I know when you're using that power or not?"
Splendid scowled darkly. He could've been at home with you right now instead of wasting his time here with this idiot.
"Ahem, anyway, what are you going to do about the town hating you, though? You're not their hero anymore, Splendid."
"Who cares? Right now, I'm just thinking of how to deal with Fliqpy. Maaan, if only I could turn back time and prevent this," Splendid whined, and his enemy nodded in agreement for once. Technically, Splendid did have the ability to do so, but the last time he rotated Earth backwards to reverse time was so catastrophic that he was forced by the Just-Us League to swear he'd never do it again. He was still bitter about that. "If that's all—which I'm sure it is since you're apparently useless at gathering intel—then I'll be off. See ya later, you cheap knock-off." Splendid snarked before floating away.
Splendont simply stood there with a deep frown. He wondered if he bought everyone enough time...
Today was going to go very badly—he could feel it.
~~~~~

"Where is everyone? Guys!!" you shouted as loud as you could, hoping that someone would come find you. You stomped into the town square before a flash of red landed harshly on the ground a few meters away from you. Your eyes lit up with hope as you inched closer to the deep crater in the ground.

Could that have been Splendont? Crouching next to the broken earth where you hoped he had landed, your eyes widened in horror.

"Oh my God! Flaky, who did this to you?!" you asked her mangled body. The only sound you heard was a gurgling noise from her throat. She had multiple stab wounds in her torso, and you wanted to help her sit up so she'd stop choking on her blood, but instead you screamed when a flash of blue landed behind you.

"Splendid, i-is that you?" You crept closer and almost sobbed at the sight. "Petunia!?" you cried out, tears forming in your eyes from seeing your friends in such a gruesome state. In this town, you saw this sort of stuff often but it never failed to make you nauseous. There was no way to become desensitized to it, either—not when it was the always happening to the people you cared for. You dry heaved and in the back of your mind, you were somewhat glad that you didn't have breakfast because you would've been throwing it all up right now.

Your head snapped to the side when you heard someone laughing joyfully. Great. There was only one man who could be happy with all this bloodshed. You saw your favorite war veteran armed with weapons walking towards you with an insane smirk gracing his face. Fliqpy had no powers but he frightened you in a way Splendid didn't. The biggest difference between the two men was that Splendid would never hurt you physically and Fliq would do it for fun.

You shakily stood to your feet and immediately forgot about the two mangled bodies beside you. You needed to survive, so you followed your first instinct.

'Stall him and beg him not to kill you.'

...You didn't have the best instincts.
