For some strange reason, school seemed like a lot more work today. Usually, it isn't that difficult but today just felt out of the ordinary almost as if something special will happen. We'll see what happens by the end of the day since I didn't see any changes. When I woke up this morning I couldn't stop thinking about the fish boy of my dreams you could say. White fluffy hair adorned his head and deep blue eyes like a seascape. Skin that is delicate and pale. And scales like a mermaid. While we sat on the rocks by the water, laughing non-stop, eating fish, and chatting like we've known each other for years, it felt as if we were old friends. In his presence, I felt more comfortable and like I was no longer out of place. I finally felt like I could be close to someone again. It was like the first time I didn't have to cry when I saw the sea. I could be at ease and splash around a bit. The fish boy suddenly faded away and I heard my dad's voice calling after me: don't go in the sea. I screamed from freight as I watched the rocks crumble and the fish rise from my hand into the air. The creature rising from the water held sharp teeth and scales, reaching out to me and asking if they were worthy of the land. I was so scared I couldn't answer so they attacked me and I jumped up awakening from my sleep looking at the sight of my room. Despite being scared, I felt so relieved. Though I couldn't explain it, I kept this in the back of my mind throughout the day. I'm glad it's over, though. After getting through the end, I had to study a lot. On average, it takes me a long time to study. Today we had a more lengthy hand of work. My mom and I liked music a lot, especially the song she sang to me every night, so I listened to music in my headphones. Hopefully one day I'll be able to pass it on and perhaps even sing it to my son, but for now, I'll have to keep it for safekeeping. I kicked pebbles frequently on the way home, skipping from one to another. Dad, I'm home are you doing okay? Kicking off my shoes, I set them on the floor by the door and hung up my jacket and backpack on the hooks next to me. Are we going fishing today? I peeked around and came across my dad in the living room. He was asleep in his futon with the tv still casting his film. I'm home I whispered did you miss me. I guess you couldn't wait any longer, could you? I knelt down and smiled picking up the booze off the floor and a note attached where it read, sorry Gon we can't fish today you should go on ahead without me. I'll find a way to make amends. Just bring back home lots also I promise I won't drink again. As I tried to understand the note, I stared at it for a few minutes. Whenever I heard these words, I felt as if I were listening to a broken record. It's just not the same around dad anymore but I'll have to make the best of it. I sighed and left the room, heading upstairs to begin working on my homework. A couple of pages took approximately one hour and a half to finish, but education is essential, I suppose. After grabbing my fishing gear, I walked straight past my dad who was still asleep. Don't worry dad I'll take care of you so you never have to be sad anymore. Tears of joy will flow from your eyes when you cry. After closing the door behind me, I went outside. The atmosphere was pretty gloomy. Oh, I hope it doesn't rain. My pace was quick as I made my way to the sea. Upon reaching my destination, I began reeling in fish from the rocks, but after singing my sweet tune for a few minutes, I noticed something different in the water as soon as I saw it, I became nervous and convinced myself that I shouldn't worry too much about it. It's probably nothing but my imagination. While I continued to fish, the wind began to increase in speed and a chilling cold breeze began to blow. After getting up, I began packing up my belongings assuming that it was going to rain. As I was watching the sea, something caught my eye and made me a bit nervous, wanting to leave the sea but I saw it spinning around, almost opening up like a portal, water splashing by the minute and a soft lullaby surrounding me. The shock and curiosity in my eyes made my eyes widen. A breathtaking view allowed in an immaculate sight. As soon as I looked away, my eyes kept peering back. Over time, white hair, scaly arms, and a tail emerged from the sea. A sea creature with an adorable look and blue eyes. My attention was absorbed by watching the boy, and I was not scared at all by the monster since it was so beautiful. As I looked at him, he began to look familiar. Almost identical to the boy in my dreams he gave off the same essence. It's you the fish boy from my dreams! What are you doing here? You are supposed to be in my head. A sudden shock hit me when I looked directly into the ocean's eyes. There is no way that you actually exist. This must be a fictitious story. Perhaps I was studying too hard and my mind went blank. Huh? The sea is where I live; I'm not from your dreams. I made friends with a boy who looks so much like you. Well, that's not me, at least I don't think so. My last appearance out of the water was plenty of years ago, so I'm certain it was not me elsewhere. What's your deal with staying in the water for that long? That's insane! I wasn't always here but someday I'll be able to walk the land again and sleep under the stars. Make wishes by the fountain and go for endless walks, but until then I'm stuck here. Well, that doesn't have to be the case. You can come home with me and I will teach you all the wonderful things that the world has to offer. You can be a kid of freedom, and enjoy every last ounce of your youth no matter what it is that you're doing or whether it's important or not. You'll find a way to be yourself without being judged. No one should give up on that and no one should have that taken away from them. You should come with me and always go to a place you could call home. Are you aware of who I am? I am absolutely incapable of doing that. Or who you are speaking to. I can't be seen in a form like this. See the world for what it is, and you will find they're disgusted by creatures like me. I'm a monster and I'm already where I belong, down in the deep. I don't see you as a monster, I see you as a friend rather. Someone worth taking care of and showing true affection. I won't disappoint you if you take my hand. I know that this might feel somewhat weird, but you can trust me, I know. I know that we're meant to be and something in my head told me that the sea isn't safe. Your question was whether I thought you were worthy of the land, and I think to answer it properly, you are. My apologies for not being able to go with you. It's not a good idea to mix monsters and humans, so don't bother me. The fish-like boy dove back into the sea closing the portal-like hole behind him. Was I just daydreaming? I plucked myself on the forehead. Ouch! Maybe I wasn't but could that really have been a sea creature? Walking closer to the water, I glanced down at my reflection in the water. Hello, please come back out fishy. After some time, nothing changed. I tossed a shell and a pebble into the water, wanting to see you again. It's alright I'm not gonna do anything to harm you. I just want to be friends. After waiting a while, I decided to call it a day. I grabbed the bucket of fish and headed home. The wind picked back up and the water opened up poking a head right out of it. It was the fish boy. Your back! have you thought about it yet. No, not really but I guess it won't hurt to try. His body was dragged along the sand as he crawled out of the water. As he struggled to breathe, he reached out to Gon. It's not so bad after all. You're right, the air up here is more refreshing. Are you able to stand? No, I don't believe so. My skin can barely handle the air. Oh well, that's not good. I'll help you stand if you give me your other hand. I might even teach you how to walk. The fish boy reached his other hand toward Him. He peered up at him from his position on the ground. Are you sure this is a great idea? Of course, I am. I know what's right when I see it. Come on, you've got this. Try lifting yourself up. Going towards Gon, the fish boy pushed off the sand with the weight of his body. As he slipped his way up to meet Gons eyes. He found that his body was turning very much human-like, he grew legs and feet. It didn't feel rough on his skin; he looked like Gon. Wow, look how much you changed Gon said excitingly. I really did change. I never imagined I would look like this again. Now you don't have to worry about anything. The only thing we need to make sure of is your walking ability. The fish boy's legs wobbled as he tried to take his first steps. Like a baby just learning how to walk he stumbled over and fell but Gon was there lifting him up every time. You've got this. Take a moment to consider where you would like to go. Take a moment to picture that place and let your feet take you, each time you step the other foot will pick you up as you go. But what if I don't know where it is that I'm going? What should I do then? It may take some time, but you keep walking until you reach it. Things like that just come to you like sleep after a long day. I'm Gon, by the way. Is there anything you'll like to go by? Oh, um I'm Killua. That's a lovely name. Would it be alright if I called you Kil-chan? I don't see any problem with that. Giggles erupted between the two boys. As Killua became accustomed to walking, Gon began to let go of him. Killua walked around on his own two feet. Killua you got it I'm so proud of you. Yippee! You probably won't hear anyone say that, but thanks. It doesn't matter you did well. I am going to go home to eat dinner with my dad and I should hurry home, so if you want to come, please do so. Oh no, I'll be fine here. I'm just not ready yet to go out into the open. Okay, I understand. However, I will keep coming back until you do. I will wait for you, so don't be afraid to come to me when you're ready. Gon started to run off with his things in one hand and in the other he was waving goodbye. Wait Killua yelled as he rushed over with a small shell in hand. What's up Kil-chan. Please accept this token of appreciation for showing me something that I never imagined I could see. For resuscitating my walking skills and getting me back on my feet. Killua bows his head as he hands him the gift. I will cherish it from now on. Thanks so much. As they parted ways, Killua smiled and waved goodbye. Gon yelled, "I'll see you tomorrow.". In the meantime, Killua returned to the sea to think of his new friend and their tomorrow full of wonders, while Gon returned home to get dinner started. A short time later, Gon opened the door. Dad, I managed to catch a good amount of fish today. There is plenty for me and you. What a wonderful son you are. I'm sorry I couldn't see you when you got home. No problem, I wouldn't know what's on your mind from time to time. Alright, Gon you should go wash up and tell me all about school while I get dinner served. Let me tell you about my new friend, dad, too, so please save room for that. But what about Bisky? She's a sweet girl. Well, Biscuit really isn't my friend, she's just a classmate who bothers me all the time. Ok, son just makes sure you wash up good and I'm all ears. Sure, dad. While holding the shell in his pocket, Gon rushed upstairs. We're gonna have so much fun tomorrow I just know it. Gon set out a change of clothes from his dresser and ran the shower setting the shell on the shelf by the sink. Gon hoped in thinking about Killua the whole time. After some time, Gon got out the shower and dressed for bed. As he entered his bedroom he placed the shell under his pillow. Hopefully, I can dream good dreams of you tonight. He patted the pillow and headed down the steps. That's perfect timing. The fish and rice were ready. Mhm looks better than the last meal you made. I hope it's delicious this time. Yeah yeah pretty funny. Seat yourself. They both took their places at the table. Thank you for the food! And they dug in. Yum. They laughed so who's this new friend of yours. I almost forgot about that. His name is Killua and I met him by the sea when I was catching fish. He appeared straight from the water, which surprised me a little. And the coolest part about it was I saw him before and he was no normal middle school boy like me. He was a sea creature and a very nice one as well. Sea creatures do not exist, and if they do, I'm sure they are dangerous. Dad, they really aren't. If you don't believe me I can bring him by since I taught him how to walk. I believe you. I think your mind was playing tricks on you.But I believe you. You haven't seen anything like that before and other people would have said something I'm sure. But they have never offered to be friends with him, I did. His identity was not accepted by them. They just walked right over him, and he was the talk of the town because people are afraid of things they believe are harmful. Like me, he had a home and things to talk about. He deserves a chance, in my opinion. It is fine if you insist, but I would like to meet him someday. I know that we were destined to be friends because I met him in my dreams. He wants to know the way of the land, and I want to know the way of the sea. Ging looked at him with a stunned look and continued eating. Seeing how happy he looked made him feel good, but he didn't think talking about creatures like that was safe. Considering that Gon needed his protection and he wanted to do his best to make him happy, he'll let it slide for now. Dinner was great dad I'm off to bed. Ok, sleep tight. Same to you. Gon went straight to sleep, wishing for the best to come of the new friends.
