Chapter 3

OMG OMG OMG! Wait, I’m saying OMG now? Dude, you’re totally losing yourself. Anyways, OMG OMG OMG that was Mom! Mom had that same hair so I think I remember from years ago.

Without out a second thought and before I realized what I was doing, I raced out of the car, across the lot, and wrapped her in my arms. I started to sob and literally cried, “Mommy, Mommy, I missed you sooooooo much. I love you so much, Mommy.” I didn’t give one shit about who saw me like this. My mother was a HUGE exception.

But then I realized she wasn’t returning my embrace. Didn’t she recognize her own son? I know it’s been 9 years, but a little recognition would’ve been nice.

I looked down at her and froze.

Oh, crap! I’m a stupid retard. A stupid, stupid fucking retard! Why did I even think she’d come back? So I guess the message was pretty much clear after 9 years.

The girl I was holding in my arms wasn’t my mother.

I dropped my arms to my sides and took a step back. Embarrassed, I felt my face get hot and beet red, and I looked at my feet.

“Um, hi?” a beautiful voice said, unsurely.

I looked around for the voice, and then someone giggled. That same beautiful voice sounded like music to my ears. “Right here in front of you.”

I turned to her and my breath caught when my eyes met hers. They were dark blue like a midnight sun and I could almost see stars twinkling in them. Eyeliner circled her eyes perfectly like black rings making them pop out in a good way. Great, I could be a poet now. Yes, sarcasm intended.

My mother had blue eyes.

And mine was an unattractive red right now. I looked away from them quickly.

I watched her lush, light pink lips move. I wonder what they would feel like on my red ones. I licked lips. Oh yeah, Jayden, some of your normal thinking is coming back.

My eyes made their way onto her body. She was wearing a black hoodie with ripped blue skinnies and black stiletto boots.

My mom had an edgy style.

I examined the beauty standing upon me some more. And shall I say she had a hot, perfect body? I wonder what it would feel like in---

Wait, her lips were moving! What did she say?

“Um, are you okay?” she asked again, I guess.

“Y-yeah, I’m fine.” Damn it, my voice broke at the end. I never trusted my voice once after I cried.

She gave me a small smile. “Yeah, and so was Stewie after he found out he didn’t actually kill Lois.”

“Ha ha. Very funny.”

So she’s sarcastic. So was Mom; I got my sarcastic remarks from her.

“Well, after your little dramatic...uh… greeting, I don’t think there’s a point to lying,” she pointed out.

“Okay, fine, you got me.” I sighed. “Handcuff me already.”

This time she gave me a big grin. Gosh, her smile was gorgeous.

“Thanks,” she replied.

I was confused. “What?”

“You said I have a gorgeous smile.”

“I said that out loud?” Jeesh, I really am losing myself today.

She smirked. “Yep. What, you thinking about me already?”

I rolled my eyes, but returned the smirk. “Yeah, babe, you’re running through my mind right now. I surprised you don’t look tired.”

She blushed. Just two words. Mad. Cute.

“Well, anyways, let me try again.” She paused. “Um, are you okay?”

I let out a cold chuckle. “Nope,” I admitted.

“What’s wrong?”

“Well, I... uh… your hair looks like my mother’s. I think.”

She waited for me to continue. And I did.

“I missed her today. So, when I, uh, saw you, I thought you were her.”

“Oh. Well, when you go home, just repeat your, uh, procedure with her.” She gave me a sympathetic smile.

“Oh, you don’t know how much I fucking wish,” I whispered emotionlessly.

“Soon you’re gonna be doing that. Get that through your mind.”

That was one of the last things Mom said to me. And yes, I have a good memory.

“Ya know what? I don’t wanna waste my time doing that crap.”

“Oh,” was all she said.

Despite how beautiful she was, I couldn’t hang around this girl anymore. She reminded me about Mom, way too much already.

And. It hurt.

I don’t want any hurt. That’s why I am who I am, Jayden Lowe.

“Listen, babe, I can’t stay.” Around you anymore. But I left that part out.

It’s official. I am losing myself today. I, Jayden Lowe, am turning away from a beautiful girl I just met.

I started to walk back to my car.

“Wait!” she shouted. As soon as I reached my car, her hand reached my shoulder.

Her touch felt like electricity. I shivered a bit. I don’t even bother to say anything, except I never shivered from a girl’s touch. I never felt any electricity.

Damn, I have to get away from this girl.

I turned around to meet her eyes and escaped from them quickly before I got caught up in them again. “What?”

“My name’s Aubrey Landon.”  She smiled and put out her hand. And I shook it and let go.

“I just moved here, to New York. I’m a junior and I’m starting school here tomorrow.”

“Great,” I muttered under my breath. Now it will be impossible to avoid her.

I got into my car and rolled down my window.

“My name’s Jayden Lowe,” I said.

And with that, I drove away from school and Aubrey.
