Chapter Four
Jeongin opened his eyes as he get up from bed with a huff. The first thing he did was to look around the whole place as disappointment and confusion dawned on his face when he saw that he’s still inside the same room like yesterday. Nothing has changed at all. From the ceiling that are full of artificial stars that glows in the dark which lits up the whole room when the lights are already turned off, to the beige color of the interior of the room, to the arrangements of the equipments inside. Jeongin’s shoulder fell when everything finally sinks in to him. He is still stock in this dream.
“When will I even go back to my own life?” he mumbled to himself as he shove the blanket away from his body.
Jeongin slowly gets off from bed, careful so he won’t hurt his ankle but the moment he steps on the floor, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion when he felt nothing, not even a single strike of pain in his feet. Jeongin’s eyes fell on his ankle and his mouth gapped after seeing that the bandage that was wrapped around his ankle yesterday was all gone. And he can see that his ankle is back to it’s normal color unlike yesterday that it is kinda swollen. He tried to put a force in his feet as he carefully stood up and he almost jump in happiness when he didn’t feel any pain at all.
“Shit! It’s all healed!” Jeongin hissed in happiness as he let himself jump upside down before punching his fist in the air. And that’s when Jungwoon enters the room and saw his older brother jumping like a crazy monkey who just escape from the zoo.
With his knotted eyebrows, Jungwoon asked his brother who’s still jumping. “What happened to you again?”
Jeongin stopped from jumping as he let himself calm down. He was just too happy that he won’t be needing to use those crutches anymore. “I am all healed now! I can’t believe it actually! Yesterday I was still wearing a bandage and I’m still using those crutches but look at my ankle now!” Jeongin even showed his ankle to Jungwoon so he would believe him. But the younger one was just looking at him like he is already out of his mind for saying those words.
“Yah! Are you sure you’re okay? What are you saying yesterday? You are all healed three days ago! You’re not even using crutches yesterday.” Jungwoon shook his head. “I don’t know what I should do to you anymore. You are my older brother but you are giving me a lot of headache.” Jungwoon said while shaking his head before he decided to get out of his brother’s room.
While Jeongin who was left inside the room was still gapping at the door where Jungwoon just got out. “What the hell… did he just say?” Jeongin whispered to himself.
Three days already had pass? But why he’s not aware of it? Did he woke up from this dream and he fell asleep again? That’s why he’s stuck once again?
Jeongin clutches his the side of his head while slowly shaking it out of confusion. But he never dreamed the same dream before! So what’s the explanation in this one? What the hell is happening to him? Early in the morning and he’s already stressed out!
He was still busy thinking about what’s happening to him when his phone rang. Jeongin immediately look for it and he instantly saw it above his the bedside table. He then reached out for it and saw that Seungmin was the one calling him.
Jeongin immediately answered the call before placing the phone close to his ear. “Yeah?” Jeongin greeted.
“Hey! Just wanna asked if you’re free later? Let’s go visit rose.” Seungmin said adding to Jeongin’s confusion. He can remember Seungmin mentioning that rose thing but he was still curious what it really was. If it is a literal rose or he’s actually talking about something else?
“Jeongin? Still there?” he heard Seungmin’s voice, waking him up from his thoughts.
Jeongin blink enumerable times before clearing his throat. “Umm… yeah! S-sure. What time do you want so I could prepare.”
“After lunch? If it’s okay for you.”
“Y-yeah! Sure! After lunch then.”
“Hmm… see yah later.”
“Yeah. Bye.”
When he finally ended the call, Jeongin started to have a second thought. Is saying yes to Seungmin a great idea? He should be thinking of ways on how he could wake up from this dream! He don’t belong in this world! This is not his life and he should already wake up before everything goes out of hand.
He is in the middle of arguing with himself about the decision he just made when the door of the room opened showing an annoyed Jungwoon. “Why?” Jeongin asked.
“Felix hyung asked if you are free later in the afternoon. He wants you to accompany him in the mall.” Jungwoon asked and he just noticed that he’s holding a phone in his right hand.
“Ow! Tell him that I can’t. I’m meeting someone later.” Jeongin said feeling a little sad that he can’t accompany Felix in the mall later. But he just can’t go and call Seungmin to take back his answer. Maybe he will just invite Felix for a lunch next time so he can compensate for what happened today.
“Okay! Noted.” Jungwoon even salutes at him before closing his room again. Jeongin shook his head before he finally decided to fix himself.
Jeongin took a bath and changed his clothes into a black shorts and white loose t-shirt. After drying his hair, Jeongin directly went downstairs to eat something because he’s already hungry.
When he finally arrives at the dinning room, the table was all set. Food are already served and just waiting for someone to eat them.
Jeongin saw Mr. Bae walking towards him and he wasn’t surprise anymore when the old man bows in front of him like he is some kind of a royalty which is definitely not him. He’s not used with this kind of treatment he gets from people. In the university, students would keep on staring at him like they really admire him or something which really makes him feel uncomfortable. He is a total opposite of Jeongin in this dream.
“Young master, do you want to eat?” Mr. Bae asked.
Jeongin nodded his head. “Umm, yeah. I’m kinda hungry that’s why I went down to check for food. Is it okay if I eat?” Jeongin asked.
The old man chuckled at his question making Jeongin's eyebrows to furrow. What’s so funny with his question?
“Of course young master. You don’t have to ask that. Young master Jungwoon already ate breakfast earlier than you because he woke up early and went for a jog outside. By the way, do you perhaps want to take jinnie for a walk outside? It’s been a long time since you last take him out for a walk since you had an injury.” Mr. Bae said and again for god knows how many times, Jeongin was filled with confusion again.
“J-jinnie?” Jeongin asked with pure uncertain in his voice.
Mr. Bae nodded his head, “yeah. Jinnie. Your pet dog. I’m sure he already missed hanging out with you.”
He never thought of having a dog for a pet before but he always loved seeing stray dogs in the street and he would always give some food to them whenever he have some left overs.
“Where is he? I want to take him for a walk first. I’ll just eat breakfast after.” Jeongin said and Mr. Bae instantly guided him towards Jinnie's cage.
At the backyard of the house, there he saw a big doghouse and he can already see a cute looking dog peeking from the small whole while barking. “Looks like he really missed you.” Mr. Bae commented before opening the doghouse.
Jinnie, the dog, immediately ran and jumped towards him. Jeongin was quick enough to catch the dog in his arms. Jinnie keeps on licking his face making Jeongin laugh because he is really ticklish.
“I’ll leave you now, young master. I still have a lot of things to do.” Mr. Bae bid his goodbye before leaving him with jinnie at the backyard.
Jeongin put the leash of the dog around it’s neck before placing him on the ground. He then walks towards the gate to open it.
Jeongin is holding the leash tight so jinnie won’t ran away and just walk beside him. Since the place is a village, Jeongin immediately look for a park and he wasn’t disappointed when he saw a mini park just meters away from the house.
He take jinnie with him as he sat on the vacant bench. There are only few people present in the park maybe they are here to take a walk too, just like him.
He decided to unleash jinnie so he could run freely around the place. “Just make sure you won’t go far okay?” Jeongin talked to the dog as if it could answer him before patting it on the head.
Jinnie barked at him first before running around the park. He is confident that jinnie won’t be lost since the park is just small and he could still look after him.
He is enjoying the fresh air in the morning plus the sunny weather alone. He never get to do this before because he was just too busy to even appreciate his surroundings. Maybe being stock in this dream is also a blessing for him? So he could at least escape from the reality even just for a while.
Jeongin blows a loud breath before scanning the whole place. There are only three people in the park including him, but he wasn’t looking at them. He was looking for jinnie.
Jeongin stood up to properly scan the whole place but he can’t see jinnie at all. “Gosh! Is he lost?” Jeongin asked to himself as panick starts to creep inside him.
No way! He can’t be lost!
He immediately walk around to look for jinnie. He even tried calling his name hoping that the dog could hear it and bark back so he would know where he is.
“Jinnie! Where are you?” Jeongin shouted as he walk around the place. The dog can’t be lost in this place right? Maybe jinnie is still here, he just needs to find him.
“Jinnie-ah! Where are you? Let’s go home now!” Jeongin shouted. But he got no response.
He stopped from walking before scratching his forehead. “Where the hell is that dog?” he mumbled. He’s really dead if he lost that dog! That’s not his to begin with! Why did he even unleashed him?
“Jinnie where—
“Are you looking for me?”
Jeongin jumped from where he was standing when he heard a voice from behind. When he turned around, he came face to face with that man. That man… from the library.
“W-what did you say?” he wanted to give himself a round of applause for having courage in asking this man in front of him after what happened in the library that day. Sure Jungwoon said it’s already three days after his ankle was healed and he’s not sure how many days already had passed in this world but for him, what happened in the library was just yesterday. And he don’t even know why he can’t let it off his head.
“I said are you looking for me?” the man asked again. Jeongin slightly flinched after hearing his voice. He didn’t flinched in fear but because he was surprised by his heart's sudden beat.
“W-what are you even—
A bark cut his word and Jeongin almost squealed in happiness as he look at jinnie who’s running towards his direction.
“Jinnie-ah!” Jeongin immediately scooped Jinnie in his arms to hug the dog tight. “I thought I already lost you! Where the hell did you go?” Jeongin hissed.
“Don’t talk to him like that.” The man who’s still standing in front of him spoke.
“What?”
“I said don’t talk to animals like that. Especially to dogs. Don’t cuss around them. They can understand you, you know.”
Jeongin looks at the man. He suddenly looks like an old man who loves nagging at children whenever he saw them made mistakes.
“Psh! Okay!” Jeongin blurted out.
He doesn’t even know why he suddenly felt comfortable talking around him where in fact, he can’t even look at his eyes that day after what happened— okay! You should really stop right there. How could you even forget about it when you are the one who keeps thinking about that scene?
Jeongin looked away before clearing his throat. “I’ll get going now.” He said before walking away with jinnie in his arms.
Why did he even say goodbye at him? They’re not even close to start with.
Jeongin shook his head as he walk faster.
While Hyunjin slowly turned around to look at Jeongin’s retreating back. He tilted his head on the side while eyeing the boy intently.
“I thought he was calling my name.” Hyunjin mumbled to himself before turning his back at the man.
°°°
“Where did you go?” Jungwoon asked the moment he steps inside the house. He let go of jinnie and the dog immediately ran up the stairs probably going inside his room.
“I just took jinnie for a walk.” Jeongin answered before heading towards the kitchen. He was so hungry already.
“You didn’t eat breakfast?” Jungwoon asked, he didn’t noticed that he followed him here.
“Nope. I took jinnie out first.” Jeongin sat on the chair, in front of him is an empty plate.
He held the spoon and fork before putting some food in his plate while Jungwoon headed towards the refrigerator to take the pitcher out that’s full of cold water. Jeongin was about to eat a spoonful of food when he suddenly remembered that man’s face. He glanced at Jungwoon’s direction who’s now drinking a glass of water. Jeongin cleared his throat before asking.
“Umm… do you know someone… umm… I don’t know if he’s also living in this village, but.. ah… do you know someone named… jinnie?” Jeongin asked because he remembered the man asking him earlier if he was calling for his name so Jeongin assumed that his name is Jinnie? Does it even made sense?
“Jinnie? Your dog?” Jungwoon asked.
Jeongin looks at the boy flatly. “Are you even listening to me? I said someone! And we are clearly talking about a person here! Not my dog!” Jeongin huffed in annoyance.
“Sorry okay? But let me think about it…” Jungwoon put the pitcher back inside the refrigerator. “Ah! Are you talking about Hyunjin?” he asked after closing the fridge.
“How would I even know if I’m talking about him or not?” Jeongin said in thick sarcasm.
Jungwoon rolled his eyes at him. “That guy with a blonde long hair?” Jungwoon asked again and this time, Jeongin finally confirmed it.
“That’s probably him!” he exclaimed.
“Yeah right! Why are you suddenly curious about that guy?” Jungwoon asked as he sat in front of him.
Jeongin avoided the younger's eye contact. “Nothing really. Why? Am I not allowed to get curious over someone?”
Jungwoon shook his head. “Nope. Definitely not. But you are not the type of person who just randomly got curious over someone. I’m sure something happened. Am I right or am I right?” Jungwoon was like interrogating him over something.
“Tsk! It’s nothing okay? Stop sticking your nose in to someone else's business.” Jeongin said before putting the spoonful of food inside his mouth.
“Yah! I am your brother! How could you even say that on my face?” Jungwoon whined making Jeongin shook his head.
“Just shut up and let me eat in peace.”
So this is how it feels like having a little brother?
It’s definitely tiring… but also fun. It’s really fun having someone to argue with.
°°°
“Did you waited for too long?” Jeongin asked after stepping out of the house where he immediately saw Seungmin leaning against his car. He’s wearing a baby blue hoodie with a big smiley print, a faded ripped jeans and a sneakers. While Jeongin is wearing a black polo shirt paired with grey shorts and sneakers.
“Nah. Just arrived a minute ago.” Seungmin said before messing his hair. “You look cute with that fit.” He then opened the door of the driver's seat before hopping inside. Seconds later, Seungmin rolled down the window of his car before putting his left arm above the windshield of the car. “Ain’t riding?” he asked cooly that Jeongin almost shook his head.
“Stop acting cool! Doesn’t suit you.” He joked before walking towards the passenger’s seat.
When he finally gets inside the car, he immediately buckled his seatbelt as Seungmin maneuvers the car.
At first, he thought Seungmin is a kind of person who’s difficult to deal with but now he finally realized that Seungmin is just like him. He can really be a total introvert but once he liked someone, he would be very comfortable around them. And maybe Seungmin is just like him. Maybe they have a lot of things in common for them to get along well.
On their way, they are just chatting with each other. Jeongin never imagine himself to be this talkative with someone. He used to hate long conversations, especially useless ones, but right now, they are definitely talking about some random stuffs you can consider as useless but Jeongin found himself enjoying Seungmin’s company.
Jeongin was too indulged in their conversation that he didn’t noticed the car already stopped in front of a huge and elegant looking house.
“Wow! Is this your house?” Jeongin asked, amazement is visible not just in his voice but also on his face.
Seungmin chuckled at his reaction tho he can see a glint of confusion on his face. “Nope. This is my parent’s house not mine. And I don’t know why you’re acting like this is your first time coming here.” He blurted out and that’s the only time Jeongin realized his action. He was too excited after seeing the house.
“Ow! Haha! Why? Can’t I react like this?” he fake a laugh to hide his nervousness.
Seungmin shook his head before unbuckling his seatbelt. “Nope. You actually look cute whenever you’re excited.”
Jeongin shook his head before unbuckling his seatbelt too. They both went out of the car. He just followed Seungmin inside since he doesn’t know the way here. The whole place just screams elegance that Jeongin couldn’t help himself from gapping. Tho the house he is currently staying right now had the same vibes with Seungmin’s house, he still can’t help himself from appreciating the view right in front of his eyes.
He thought they would stopped at the living room but Seungmin continued walking, he even opened the glass door in the living room which connecters them at the pool area. But Seungmin keeps on walking until he found himself standing in front of a single rose beside Seungmin.
So… this is the rose he was talking about?
“I really thought everything will die. But the next morning, I saw this one. It has a different color compared to those other roses I had that already turned black and decay. Actually three days ago, I noticed that, rose's color became even more vibrant compared to its color before.” Seungmin explained.
Jeongin was just looking at the rose in front of him while slightly nodding his head. “You’re right. His color is extremely vibrant, I can tell.”
“Hmm-mm! That’s why we need to take care of it more.” Seungmin exclaimed.
Jeongin actually find it weird for a person to take care of a plant and actually gave name to them but as he looks at Seungmin who’s busy looking out for the rose, a small smile appeared on his lips.
“He’s actually adorable.” He mumbled in the air.➼📝: okay! But Jeongin actually looks so hot in the episode 3 of their kingdom week earlier! Whenever I look at him after seeing his abs, I can't call him cute anymore. He's definitely not a baby bread anymore! *Ung baby bread ko may pandesal na!😭😭😭*
