Headcannon above⬆
The bad thing about dating someone at Hogwarts is that when someone knows, they'll most likely spread it out to the whole school. And that was how rumors about Harry and Draco being a couple spread.
No one really knew who found it out but everyone was shocked to say the least. They were even more shocked when Neville confirmed it. Harry and Draco trusted him to not say anything too!
Now, students were even placing bets on them to see how long 'Strict Malfoy' and 'Fun Potter' would be together for! The maximum was two weeks! How dare they think so badly of them! They make a great couple!
The worst thing was, they had to be more careful now! Thankfully, the students all think it's just a rumor, but still!
When there wasn't a rumor Harry and Draco could run into each others classroom and ask something stupid just to see each other and no one would suspect a thing. Now everyone's practically stalking them to find out if the rumors are true or not.
Imagine walking into your classroom just to get asked this:
"Professor Malfoy, is it true that you're actually dating Professor Potter?"
"Of course not. Who would have the mind to date that idiot? Now get back to work or you're getting detention!"
It was a bloody nightmare.

"Draco?" Harry asked on their picnic date, completely unaware of a crowd of students hiding in the bushes.
"Yes love?" Draco asked, picking up flowers off the ground and making them into a flower crown.
"Should we tell the school about our relationship? Like, officially? There are already a lot of rumors about us, Dray." Draco only hummed in responce, looking up and smiling towards Harry.
"Harry, it's your decision. Personally, I am completely fine with it," He paused to put the now finished flower crown on Harry's head, smiling. "You know you'll always be my number one, Harry. You mean the world to me and if you think it's time to tell the whole school, we can. It's your choice." He finished, taking one of Harry's hand in his and kissed the back of his hand.
"It's settled then," He said. "I'll ask McGonagall if we can make an anoucement tomorrow."
They shared a quick kiss.
"I love you."
"I love you too, dragon."
The crowd of students in the bushes silently cooed at the sight and decided to cancel their bets and change it to 'forever'.

"Now, Professor Potter and Professor Malfoy has something to say," Professor McGonagall said with a smile. Harry and Draco both smiled back and took over.
"Thank you, Professor. Now, the reason we are making this anoucement is because there were quite a few... rumors about Me and Professor Malfoy. We wanted to confirm that me and Professor Malfoy are, in fact dating." Harry said, holding Draco's hand.
Almost all of them smiled and had no problem with them. They clapped for a bit and continued eating like nothing happened.
They both smiled at each other. Life couldn't get any better.
