Chapter 5 - Magnolia

Lucinda squeezes through some of us and says, "May I speak with you, please?"

Elias looks around at everyone, "Of course Lucinda."

Lucinda, now looking only at me, puts her hand on my shoulder, "Sorry but that does not actually include you, Archie."

"Oh," I mumble, turn and start heading over to where the true majority of the people are. As I walk over to the bar, I notice a few staring eyes but choose not to show a reaction, the last thing I want is a fight.

At the bar, I take a seat on a stool. Seconds later I am joined by a blonde with red highlights, her back against the counter, "So, your Elias' friend?"

"To be completely honest, " I start, sneaking a glance at Elias from my seat, "I am not quite sure."

Her expression turned into one of bewilderment, "How do you not know if you are his friend?"

I look into her eyes and see a sliver of red in her original green eyes. She must only be turned for a little over a month, I think knowing pure red eyes mean just turned. "Excuse me but I did not catch your name."

"Just . . . Magnolia." She answers, turning her gaze to the ground. "Sorry, I could not help but see that your eyes are not red. How long have you been turned?"

I turn around so I am facing away from the counter. "Only two years."

"Two years and your already in Boston with Elias. According to the people here, that has never happened before."

"Well, they did kind of kidnap me."

Magnolia looks at me with her red green eyes, she speaks quietly, "They kidnapped me, then turned me, only a month ago."

I change my attention from Magnolia to Elias. Noticing Lucinda is not there - by him, I start looking for her in the crowd before me. When I am about to give up, Lucinda comes out, right in front of me.

Lucinda gazes at Magnolia for a second, then back at me, "Archie, Catherine and Elias want to see you. Come with me."
