This silly little game of ours
I hope we always play
Whether separated by a million stars
Or side by side we lay

Ten words you give to me like seeds
Carefully planting them in my mind
Some sprout ugly prickly weeds
Others hold beauty quite sublime

The roots anchor in my heart
My love their nourishing drink
My pen the straw that carries the art
Sweet drops of water turned to ink

Words connect like lovers do
Forming ideas instead of bonds
Together making things ring true
With the power to make lies and pain abscond

Some connections slowly form
Like paint takes time to dry
Others come in a rapid storm
And can gravity defy

A sentence is a family of words
Ideas growing into separate branches
Sometimes the lineage can get blurred
Or hidden by white out avalanches

You can never guess how you would handle
A blooming romance or thought
Each is like a burning candle
An inspiring spark that can't be bought

Some develop into sweet fruits
And make smiles brightly show
Squeezed into nutritious juice
That can energy bestow

Others may look pretty
But are actually quite sour
Pursing lips, and eyes all squinty
Betrayed by the allure of a flower

The seeds you offer I will reap
Sit on a bench and watch them grow
As bees and butterflies on petals creep
A beautifully choreographed show

Here we are again my dear
To the end of another list
Which entertained while you weren't near
And relit my passion like your kiss

This silly little game of ours
I hope we always play
Whether separated by a billion stars
Or side by side we lay
