* time skip to the guests arriving*

- Welcome, sir Cullen! Thank you for coming in on such notice.

- My apologies for that, but urgent matters came up.

- Oh, I understand completely. This is my lovely wife, Katrina, and my two proud jewels, Alissa and Emily. We also have three of my best counselors with us this evening. And who might be accompanying you tonight?

- This is my son, Rosemund, and three of my own counselors.

- A pleasure!

After all the greetings are done, a certain maid acting as a lady in waiting approached the bundle of people. She wore a long, dark crimson dress, not too far from her usual attire, but still different. It had black lace off-shoulder sleeves, and intricate black designs that faded out the higher they reached, stopping at her waist line, where a black leather v- shaped corset supported her. Her black heels clicked evenly on the marble floor. Her long chestnut hair was wavy, curled at the ends as it hugged her frame like a veil. A matching set of black and red jewelry adorned her pale skin.

- My Lords and honored guests, dinner is ready.

Once the attention fell on her, silence took over the room. Y/N itched to bite the inside of her red lips cause of the overbearing silence, but refrained from doing so.

- My, my, Christopher! I didn't know you had another jewel by your side!

- Oh no no no, this is Y/N, a high maid of ours, which will be serving my daughters as their lady in waiting this evening.

I take a look around the group, spotting the sisters, who give me both thumbs up and star shaped eyes, and start walking to their side.

- My Ladies, apologies for arriving late. They needed help with the preparations and I had time to spare.

- With great manners, and a thoughtful mind! Quite the catch there, don't you think Rosemund?~

I turn to look at the young man next to the lord. His height, long lilac hair and blue eyes are the first things that catch my attention. It takes me a moment to realize he has my hand in his, kissing the back of it and looking at me as if I am a light and him a bug.

- Quite the lady, yes.

He says gently.

After an awkward silence and the sisters thinking how the love triangle would end, I clear my throat and retract my hand.

- If you would please follow me to the dining room.

I take the lead and start towards the dining room, multiple pairs of footsteps following behind me. The sisters rush to catch up on me, one at each side.

- *whispers* You look dazzling!~

- *whispers* And I think prince charming here is already smitten! He hasn't taken his eyes off of you~

I lightly elbow both girls to their sides and shush them, blushing. I stop in front of the big double door and turn to face the small crowd.

- Allow me to introduce you in our humble village with our widely known hospitality.

I say with a graceful smile and bow, pushing the mahogany double doors open. Inside, a long, dark brown, and set table rests in the middle, silverware shining under the light of the chandelier above it. Flower bouquets decorate the hall, along with warm red carpets, big fireplace, long red curtains, and little adornments all around, giving a sense of both homey and luxury.

Each member of tonights dinner takes their place around the table, and I move to stand by the wall behind the daughters, as every servant does with their respective master for the night. With a bell, the dinner starts, and all kinds of conversations fill the room. I make sure my ladies are okay, re-fill their glasses, and keep quiet, silently waiting for the dinner to end. What I didn't know, was how horrible a rich person can be. As much kind as Rosemund was, that much worse was the father.

"Let's see how good of a servant she truly is. If my son wants her, I'll shape her up to be the obedient woman he needs her to be."

- Oh dear, the pot with the wine seems to be empty. You, go fetch us some more!

As sir Cullen sends his personal servant for the night off to get more wine, the time to move to the next dish comes, which leaves him without service. As the servants exchange frantic glances between them, I serve my ladies and move over our esteemed guest.

- May I present you the next dish, sir?

- Oh why yes, you may~ What will it be?

- Meat and rise soup, Lord.

- Lovely~ . He smirks.

I take the empty plate and go to replace it with the hot bowl of scorching soup, but he suddenly jerks his hand backwards, making the bowl leave my hands. With a loud crash, the bowl smashes into the floor, hot soup on my dress and skin.

Rosemund - My God! Are you okay?! That plate was scorching!

Rosemund is the first to get up and try to reach me, then the sisters and my masters, but I just shake my hands at them, signaling that it's fine.

- Oh oops! So sorry! Clumsy me~!

Rosemund glares at his fathers ways, for he knew what he had planned, and the sisters look at each other worriedly.

- A thousand apologies sir! Are you hurt anywhere?

- Oh, worry not sweetheart~ I am perfectly fine~

- Allow me to clean up the shards....

I kneel down and start carefully picking up the shards in silence, conversations slowly bubbling up again. I try to be very careful, being too close to sir Cullens feet. Suddenly, a shard I didnt saw, mysteriously appeared and made a good cut on my pointer finger, blood dripping on the floor. I clench my teeth, the feeling of being burned and getting cut getting too much for me. I shut up and bare it, motioning one of the other head servants to help me. More than one moves to help me. It seems I was the center of attention from the servants. Everyone could almost feel my pain, yet no one else would have been able to bare it like I did.

Finally, a servant comes to my side, and starts picking up the rest of the glass, as another one comes to clean up the soup, both of them shooing me away and out of the room with gestures. I nod and smile gratefully, before slipping through a side door to avoid any more attention. I head for the kitchen and throw away the shards that I had picked up, happy to be the only one in the kitchen right now, the staff being outside on break before the final push of dessert. I excused myself from the dinner table for I was not fit for serving at the table anymore.
