the realization of feelings

"kie, what do you mean?" care giggled, as she turned to face her bestfriend. the two we're on the tipsy side, after sneaking a random bottle of alcohol from the cameron's alcohol fridge.

"i mean, think about it. imagine traveling the world and surfing with your best friend and the person you love the most?? doesn't that sound like a paradise" 15 year old kiara carrera asked her bestfriend.

"i mean, i guess. but whos the other person?" care asked.

"what do you mean?" kiara questioned. " you're both, duh. my bestfriend and the person i love the most"

"awww, i love you more" care blushed while leaning into kiara's side. little did kiara know, care meant the 'i love you' , just not in a friend type of way.

july 4th, 2019
the fall out

care and kiara were at a kook party, celebrating the fourth of july. the two were extremely out of it, drunk, high, all of the above. they sat by some campfire on a log, huddling together trying to get extra body heat

"this- this is so fun" kiara said while hiccuping

"i definitely agree" care said, while leaning her head on kiaras shoulder. a cool but warm breezed drifted through the air, sending goosebumps all over care's arm.

"oh my god, you're literally freezing!" kiara exclaimed while laughing. 

"let me go find a jacket for you." kiara said while getting up to ask around.

care looked around, observing and taking in the sights around her. drunk teens making out, people dancing, beer drinking competitions. she was drawn away from her thoughts, as she felt a warm finger tap her shoulder

"hey, is this seat taken?" a slightly tanned girl with brown hair that was tightly but loosely thrown up into a bun asked, while pointing to the seat next to care

"nope, you can sit there." care said, even though kiara was sitting there before.

"im simone!" the girl greeted, while introducing herself

"im scarlett, but everyone calls me care! are you from around here? i feel like ive never seen you here before! " care exclaimed while asking simone.

"nope! im from new jersey, but i guess just visiting" simone said.

"ohh, that makes sense! " care agreed. little did scarlett know, kiara was watching this interaction, and jealously was flooding through carrera's veins. the thought of her bestfriend laughing and smiling with a stranger rather than her made her upset.

july 14th, 2019
the fight

its been a week since care met simone, and a week since care had seen kiara. it was almost like kiara was avoiding care. care had found out that simone came to the outerbanks for a soccer thing, something care didnt know much about. but simone left a few days ago, and now care didnt have anything to do except find kiara.

care walked into the wreck, feeling a gust of the cold air burst into her face, and she opened the door. she saw kiara taking an order, so she sat down to wait for her best friend to come over to her table. 

"hi welcome to the wreck, what can i get you?" kiara asked, with a dull voice

"our normals" care asked, waiting for kiara to crack a smile

"which is..." kiara said, with no expression on her face

"what do you mean, you know what my order is kie..." care asked, with a small visible frown on her face

"shouldnt you be hanging out with you're new friend?" kiara scowled

"simone?" care questioned. " she left a few days ago"

"oh, so now you have no friends and your bored so you come running back to me? is that how it is?" kiara asked, raising her voice

"what?? kie your not making sense." care said, upset

"only my friends call me kie." kiara said, angrily

"oh." care said, while getting up from her booth and walking out the wreck and to her house. she entered her house, with little tear streaks down her face

"hey care bear- woah, what happened?" rafe asked. care and rafe have always been close, closer than care and sarah

"nothing" care quietly said, while trekking to her room. 

and that, was the fall out of one of the best friendships in the outerbanks.
