Epilogue

It had been six months. Jimin had been to counselling and behind the scenes his friends had contacted army recruits that had served in Jimins unit and those who had moved on any witness they could get any evidence they found eventually, after speaking to Jimin they petitioned the president for a behind closed doors meeting to put forward their case.
Being a huge fan of BTS and having met them before the president agreed, on the condition both parties represented themselves but any relevant evidence could be shown.
Today was that meeting,Jimin had, had a rough night worried about facing the man who had diminished his self worth , Jungkook had hugged him all night and now standing outside the building with the rest of BTS members Jimin shakily said," well whatever happens we tried, thank you all for being there for me,"
"Always Jimin " they said bringing him in for a group hug.

The room was large, politicians and military staff totalling about thirty people sat there. BTS were ushered to a long pew like seat with a podium and microphone in front, opposite was another long bench and podium where Jimins old commander sat a big sneer on his face.
The president resided over the meeting, expressing that everything would be documented, that each would state their case bringing whatever witnesses and the outcome would be declared later. Both parties nodded.
The commander was asked to step forward and speak first detailing his take on the situation .
" I'm a serving officer , with many years service" , he boasted. "My job is to get the enlisted into shape to serve the honour of their country, by any means. Some people,( he sneered at Jimin) don't take kindly to authority, some need a firmer hand,I can't help it if 'Mr Park' is one of those people." He finished proudly, confident in his credentials .
"I understand you did not bring any witnesses so we will proceed with Mr Parks statement and witnesses," the president said .
Jimin stood up visibly shaking and so pale." G-good morning sir," he said bowing to the president," I am here today to state my case a-as a gay member of the community,"
The commander made a noise which was quickly subdued by the president ,"please proceed Mr Park, take your time please don't be nervous ,"
Jimin nodded then slow but sure spoke up for himself, explaining about joining the military his first commander, then his life after the present commander came, omitting nothing, detailed , documented records being handed out to those relevant,written statements from military doctors which made the commander raise surprised eyebrows, jimins own doctor and counsellors report and then witnesses for Jimins state of mind in and out of the army
Li Chang and his friend came first describing how Jimin was when they got there  how the rumours had been told to them and how they had seen with their own eyes how scared Jimin was of him and how suddenly they had been moved on once the commander realised he couldn't pick on Jimin whilst they were there,after them came many different men Jimin recognised ,that he had served with, who all spoke up to say they feared for their safety if they showed any sympathy to Jimin, more who said they too had been moved to other units, then eventually Jimins original commander came in bowing to Jimin before addressing the court.
" Sirs,I address you as a commander of the Korean army, I had the pleasure to serve with Mr Park for his first few months  before I took a more active roll in another unit. I can say with sincerity whilst serving under me that Mr Park did his job with the utmost competence, pushing himself more than others as he didn't want to be known for his fame but for his service, I can say with complete honesty that he would have gone far if still serving under me and for that I would like to apologise to him,"he finished before stepping forward  bowing and saluting at Jimin, who tearfully did the same back before gripping the friendly commanders hands in his and saying thank you,to which the commander replied " stand up for your rights Jimin , always!"
A loud bang came from the other side as the other commander slapped his hand in anger on the bench glaring at the man who had so kindly stood up for Jimin.
" and finally I believe we have your band mates who would like to come forward?"
Jimin looked surprised before stepping back and letting his band mates stand there, RM as usual was the voice for them.
"Sirs, "he said addressing the room ," this meeting was brought today because someone  is basically homophobic , we understand that there are still in society people that think like that and I guess people will always have a viewpoint, but this does not mean someone in authority can completely demoralise and abuse a member of society because they are different from want he wants. The constant abuse both physically and verbally caused a drastic change in Jimin his whole mental health was put at risk,we as a group couldn't understand what had made him like that as we served at the same time. We let him down as well, relying on our experience of the army to justify how we thought he should have acted, Jimin was originally all for serving his country and as his former commander said was doing a very good job. For someone to be in charge of a group of people with such a bad rigid mindset does not bode well for the future, just because people are different doesn't make them less able. As I said previously we as a group feel we let Jimin down as well so.." the whole group turned facing jimin and bowing as one bringing tears to his eyes as he enveloped them in a hug.
"thank you gentlemen, as we have finished statements sooner than thought we will take a short break and get back to you with our verdict." Everyone stood and bowed to the president as those who were adjudicating went with him leaving the rest of the room sitting and murmuring amongst themselves.
The commander spoke up to Jimin, " so found friends to stick up for you Park, do they know what a little wimp you are, how much you cried"
Jungkook was about to jump up furiously when Jimins first commander still in the room stepped up,"bak Chang,shut up, your making a fool of yourself do you think people are unaware of your bullying nature, why do you think you have stayed so many years at the same rank?This is another black mark on your file,you should be ashamed of yourself" he said before turning and sitting down again.
" yes asshole, what he said," jungkook shouted before drawing Jimin to him in a hug.
Suddenly the side door opened and the men walked in , it had certainly been a quick break,jimin whispered", we'll that was quick seems like they didn't have much to think about,oh well we tried our best,"
The asshole commander sneered at him confidant in the vote.
"Commander and Mr park will you stand please.while the army is about rules and regulations it is not about physical and mental abuse, as pointed out the ways of society are changing we need to learn and accept these changes be more tolerant, Mr Parks sexuality is nothing to do with his willingness and ability to serve, we find that Mr Park was unlawfully physically and mentally abused whilst serving his country, Mr Park we apologise most sincerely," the president and adjudicators stood and bowed to Jimin who bowed back.
" commander we find that although of long service your predjudiced beliefs do not sit well in the future of the army, we recommend demotion and six months retraining in mental health structures and society but if you refuse your resignation will suffice."

"Jimin, Jimin,Jimin "chanted his friends once  outside  the building, " you did it Jimin,well done," he smiled saying," no we did it,"
""Right then,management have arranged a party at our favourite club,all witnesses and staff and anyone who wants to come make your way there, it's going to be a late night !!!" RM shouted, everyone started making their way from the building before Jungkook holding Jimins hand called RM" we might be a little late got a stop off first,"
"What for,?"
" I need to fuck a hero," jungkook said pulling Jimin to their car before waving cheekily at a grinning RM's face.

Two months after that a new law regarding military service came out.
People/bands bringing in a certain amount of revenue to S Korea each year would only serve four months in the military topped up by two weeks boot camp for the next two years. This was produced by the president who after Jimins case realised that people like them are already serving their country in a beneficial way and four months would not detract to much from potential earnings and also show a willingness to serve their country both ways.

The end
All parts of story made up as in a 'what if' type fiction. No disrespect is meant to anyone or any country and job titles are made up.
Also as a footnote everybody has the right to be who they want in society without detrimental labels being attached love respects all genders don't judge people because you don't understand their way of life.
