Chapter 2

7 July 2000

Moving a year forward, it's the first birthday of the kids of the besties. Francisco, Jake, Maria, and Liana set up a birthday party at their backyards. They connected the fences open to each other so that it would be one big area.

Lots of people came to the party, majority of them being witches or wizards. The Witches Council was there, Emma's relatives, Jax's relatives, Francisco and Maria's friends, Jake and Liana friends, and their neighbors.

Then here comes the part wherein the kids blow their candles. Maria carried Emma in her arms, swaying them gently, same with Liana. The parents stood in front of everyone, beside the cakes laid on the table.

Jax's cake was decorated with black and dark blue theme because his powers, which is still unknown to him, while Emma's had white and pink theme. They were both piled up of two round layers.

Francisco carried Emma closer to her cake and Jake carried Jax closer to his cake so they can blow their candles. Everyone yelled, "Make a wish!"

Emma and Jax blew their birthday candles and everyone applauded. It was time for the parents to share their wishes.

"Well, I wish the best for my daughter." Francisco lovingly stares at his daughter, then to his wife.

Maria added, "We also hope that she will have great leadership skills and will become truthful to what is right."

"In behalf of Jake and I, we wish that Jax would become a great, responsible, and handsome young man." Leona says. Jake stayed silent.

After announcing their wishes, Desdemona, Agamemnon, and Ramona stepped forward, closer to them. They froze every human being in the party to make way for what they have to say. Not much were frozen as majority of the visitors were witches and wizards. As the Council, they are like a godmother/godfather to every young witch/wizard while they hold their title, especially to the Chosen One.

They approached Jax's side first. Agamemnon glared at Jake, who feared him at first but now stood up for himself. He repeated, "Jax... Jax Novoa."

"Despite some of the troubles and misunderstandings with the Council for the past years, we hope your son wouldn't do the same troubles Jake has done." Agamemnon stated, "But may the best of luck shower upon the Novoa family, especially Jax."

"May Jax become a great and responsible wizard." Ramona asserted. Jake and Liana nodded and shook their hands.

Then they moved to Emma's side. He repeated, "Emma... Emma Alonso."

"As the newborn Chosen One, may Emma become a great and responsible witch, unlike the current one. May she be safe from all the magical threats that may come after her and whatever happens, may she stay strong." Desdemona stated. Francisco and Maria nodded and shook their hands.

Once the Council finished their wishes, they left the party and unfroze the humans. Everyone had a good time and so did the children, including Lucas.

Liana noticed Jake's absence and asked her best friend if she had seen him. Maria shook her head. Where was Jake?

Jake? His plan was set to start.
