Chapter 3

Maya's POV

Monday morning I got up at six am and started to get ready for work, I ate a small breakfast, took a shower got ready and headed out the door at 8:00. I basically ran to the elevator and pressed the button and waited five minutes for elevator and elevator open and I stepped inside, as soon the the door opened again I ran out to my car, open the door and immediately started running to the car, today I don't want to be late I have to be early to welcome the vice president that's why I wore the simple black dress in case I dropped something on my self or if somebody else did. I drove directly to the office and got there and eight-forty. I rode the elevator all the way up and head to my office, Alice came in "hey girlie your right on time everybody is meeting the conference hall down stairs to welcome the vice president" "ok let me just go pee and I'll meet you downstairs". I head down to conference hall and walked into the the conference hall, me and Alice didn't even get the meet each other as soon has I stepped the welcoming started "Good morning to everyone I hope everyone had great weekend and hopefully a good Monday morning" Mr. Solace said to everyone with a smile " well let's get to it then, I want everyone to know this year we will be the top magazine with the help of newest member of our big family Noah solace my son and your new vice president" everyone started to clap to welcome him. At first I couldn't see him on the stage but once he got in front the podium I got to look at him, he's looks just like his father I thought before started talking "Hello everyone I'm Noah Solace and please call me Noah being called Mr. Solace makes me feel like my father." People chuckled at the small joke "And like my father said we will be at the top this year and we are all gonna need everyone's help so let's work has a team and be number one!" He said excitedly, he step away from, the podium and let his father speak again "well you've all heard Noah, let's get to work!". We all headed back up to start the day, has the conference hall started to empty I saw Elijah and Alice talking to someone as I got closer I noticed it was Noah and they laughing up a storm, I decided to introduce my self since my team will be directly working with him, I fixed my hair and and straighten my dress. As I was walking to them I heard Alice say "how come you didn't tell us this was gonna be the company your going to be working at.......now this introduction going to hard to  do give me minute".I walked up to Alice to ask how she's already so chummy with the vice president while Elijah and Noah were talking "hey how come you didn't tell me you knew the vice president" she looked at me with an uncomfortable smile "first I didn't know and two him and Eli have been friends from way before but that's not the problem" I looked at her with a questionable face and asked her " What do you mean that's not the problem" " well you see him he was supposed to be the guy you were supposed to go on a date with on Sunday hehehe". I looked at her with wide eyes " Wait what you're playing with me right?" I asked as I giggled. " no I'm not joking. This is a real situation and he's coming right behind you and he also knows what you look like before so yeah" she flipped me around to face him and ran to Eli side "so your maya?" He said to me " Yes I am Maya Ansley it's pleasure  meeting you Mr. Solace" I put up my hand to shake his, he grabbed my hand and said "Please call me Noah" the way looked at me, scared me for some reason I felt like I couldn't move. I snapped out of the weird trance when I felt my phone vibrate , I basically ripped my hand from his and looked at my phone to see who it was, the phone screen read Jackson "I'm sorry this important I have to answer, once again it was a pleasure meeting you Mr.Solace I mean Noah " I said while walking away I answered the phone "what?" "Hey maya I was wondering if I could come over to your house earlier for thanksgiving  I really hate staying at aunt Claire's house pleaseee" he asked "why what happened how many times do I have to tell you that you shouldn't be hanging around with her kids they love to get under your skin what did say to them?" "That their mom cheated on their dad and they got so mad hahaha". I sighed "Jackson they are fifth-teen year olds and you know they are sensitive and annoying they can be why would you say that?", I rubbed my temples feeling a headache coming on "they said stuff about you and Alyssa and they kept egging me on about". I stood quiet for a few moments "Jackson when I come to pick you up you better be ready." "Yay thanks your amazing I love you" "love you too bye" I said. Headed to the elevator while pulling out my phone back out again to called Alice but she didn't pick so I decided to call Elijah and he didn't answer either when the elevator door open I headed to Elijah's desk I saw him looking at some pictures of lasts years magazine "if you and Alice don't come to break in five minutes there will be hell to raise ok" he just shook his head I walked to break room and shut the door behind me not a minute later Elijah came in with a scared looking Alice clutched on his back "ALICE MONTGOMERY SMITH! YOU ARE HEARBY INDEFINITELY NOT PERMITTED TO EVER MESS WITH MY DATING LIFE!!!" I yelled at her "but but I'm sorry it's not my mistake I didn't expect this." She whined  "Alice  do you understand that now with the whole date set up crap it's gonna be awkward around him, I have work with him almost everyday. Just saying hello feels weird" I rolled my eyes and sat on the chair behind me in defeat "I'm sorry ok please forgive me mmm mmm please please " she pleaded me while shaking me " alright alright I swear you and Jackson will be the death of me" Alice looked at me " wait what happened with Jackson?" I got up from the chair and told her "Jackson told the aunt Claire's kids that their mom cheated on their dad" Alice rolled her eyes "she probably is the way she tried to hang over Eli last Christmas, I don't like her everything she says  it's like a backhanded comment". I started snickering " Stop I owe her a lot but anyways I'll see you guys at lunch bye" I walked into my office and sat down  laid my head down on the desk, maybe if I act like I didn't know about the date he won't question me about it "ughhhhhh" maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion he won't ask me. I sat up started to work on confirming some new edits on magazine and securing the interviews, I heard light typing on my door "who is it?" "It's Jessica just letting you know that Mr. Noah is calling everyone in from management I don't know why" I looked up at the door "wait come in". Jessica stepped and closed the door behind her "yeah he's asking me to tell everyone in management on this floor about it and your going on in 10 minutes" " wait wait are you sure you don't know why he's calling for?" She shook her head left to right slightly saying "nope and since your final editor he wanted you to be last". Jessica left right after that so I decided to bring my original notebook for the presentation and in the exactly 10 minutes Jessica called my office saying he wants me to, I got up and headed to his office. As I stood in front the big fogged up glass doors, lifted my handed to knock on the door and knocked three times  and waited for the reply "come in Ms.Ansley" I pushed open the door.
