Look at Adrien Agreste, the dreamy, radiant, carefree model who unbeknownst to the world had more weight on his shoulders then a teenager should. His fans may think they know the real him but now one knows the real him. Not his father. Not Ladybug. Not Nino. No one. Everyday he pretends to play the part of the perfect son. When he wears a mask specifically a black one, he doesn’t have to live up to anybody’s standards but today he wasn’t given a chance to turn into his alter ego.
Juleka, a dark haired girl who attended the same school as Adrien; stood in front of her mirror asking herself “Who is this girl I see staring back at me?” She was a timid person in the public’s eye but with Rose or her brother, Luka she was out of her shell just enough to feel like herself. Like she wasn’t hidden in anything. This aniexty was made worse by her photograph curse. “When will my reflection show who I am inside?” she questioned feeling negative thoughts slip into her heart. Once again Hawkmoth took advantage of her poor soul. With a flap of a butterfly wing she was Reflekta once again.
Adrien didn’t enjoy being in a world where he had to hide his heart and what he believed in. He was devising a planning to show the world he just didn’t know how. He sat in a makeup chair holding a mirror as the professional make up artist work on his face and hair preparing him for a photoshoot.
Quickly people transformed into Reflekta, a super villain that ChatNoir and Ladybug had faced before. They were screaming in terror as she cackled with victory. “Juleka?” He questioned as his makeup teamed abandoned him to face an akumatized villian, alone.
“My name is Reflekta!” she spat as if Juleka was poison to her ears. She motion to touch him to transform him but something familiar lurked in his eyes. Was in loneliness?
“Why?” He questioned when she moved her had away deciding not to make him look like her much to Hawkmoth’s relief.
“Your more like me then you want to admit.” She stated hoping that Ladybug wouldn’t interrupt this conversation.
“I’m nothing like you.” he said not in a mean tone more of a depressing one. She was going to grab his hand to confront him but realized if he did she would be like her. She didn’t want that.
“I’m sorry.” Did Adrien’s ears deceive him or did an akumatized villain just apologize?
“I’m sorry your lonely too. I never thought we would have anything in common until today.” Reflekta said causing him to smile slightly.
“Stay away from Adrien!” Ladybug yelled as she took her yo-yo from her waist and pulled Adrien away from Reflekta.
“Ladybug, don’t!” Adrien shouted as Ladybug went after Reflekta who Adrien could of easily talked out of being a villian. Adrien stood between Ladybug and Reflekta.
“Move.” Ladybug ordered misunderstanding the fact that Reflekta wasn’t seeking revenge against Adrien.
“Don’t. She did nothing wrong. She’s just lonely.” Adrien confessed trying to talk her out of fighting Reflekta.
“How this fair to Juelka?” Ladybug questioned with a raise of her mask-brow. Adrien glanced at Reflekta for a response. Reflekta didn’t what to turn to being Juleka, Juleka was a nobody.
“Give me the rest of this day. A hero can spare me a day can’t she?” Reflekta asked. Ladybug knew the public wouldn’t like this but for some unknown reason Hawkmoth was allowing his dog to be unleashed.
“I’ll watch her.” Adrien said volunteering to be Reflekta’s babysitter of sorts.
“No, I will.” Ladybug stated.
“I think she would prefer me. And don’t you need to find ChatNoir? He might be in trouble with the Reflekta copies.” Adrien stated trying to give Reflekta some room to do whatever she wanted. She had only one day to live until she reverted back to Juleka and forgot everything.
“If you hurt even one hair on his head...!” Ladybug told Reflekta. She was being overprotective of Adrien as crushes tend to do. Ladybug just didn’t understand to stand out like a sore thumb but to be invisible at the same time.
Later on that evening Adrien had eagerly took Reflekta to the Effiel Tower. He told her it was the beautiful spot in Paris. She sat with him on the bench having only minutes left before Ladybug would hunt her down.
“I’m sorry that you feel alone. I relate. My father is never home.” Adrien confessed a little tears eyed. He didn’t know why he confessing this to her.
“Don’t you have million of fans?” Reflekta asked.
“Fans and friends are two different things.” He said as he wondered why she felt lonely. She answered the question that was across Adrien’s face.
“My dad left me at a young age. I felt like he left because of me. Because I was not capable of being loved.” She wiped a tear from her eye.
“That’s how I feel about my mother.” Adrien added. Hawkmoth was listening to the conversation without their knowledge. Hawkmoth clutched his chest. He had no idea what his son was feeling because they both never talked about their emotions. Father like son.
Adrien felt as if he was making a mistake spending all this time with Reflekta made him develop feelings. Feelings she returned. They glance at each other. Adrien knew if he touched her wether a touch of the hand or a kiss he would be transformed. But he found himself so close to her purple lips.
“We can’t” She stated knowing it would be hard for him to let go of her.
Ladybug clunched her fist watching Adrien and Reflekta nearly kiss. Of course he would fall for someone he can never be with. Sounds like a cliche love story.
“Are you ready?” Ladybug asked as she came out of the shadows.
“No.” She stated as she took her akumatized wrist mirror off and handed it to Ladybug much to the protest of her and Adrien’s feelings.
Ladybug felt sorry for Reflekta if she would of known she would fall in love only to let it go she would of never let Adrien accompany her. Ladybug soon cleansed the Akuma and return the citizens back to theirselves.
“Goodbye.” Reflekta sadly said to Adrien. A confused Juleka stood in Reflekta’s place.
“I’ll take you home.” Ladybug said to Juleka as she patted her softly on the shoulder.
“I’ll return for you.” Ladybug told Adrien.
“No, it’s okay. I prefer to be alone for awhile anyway.” He repleid. After Ladybug left with Juleka. He leaned up against the railing of the Effiel Tower. He cried. He was stupid to fall for a girl he couldn’t have.
“Why?!” He yelled at the stars knowing that fate had a tendency to be cruel.
