I open the door of our quiet house

I open the door of our quiet house. The living room lamp dimly lights my entrance. I carefully shut the door—making sure not to awake my family. I set my purse and keys on the kitchen counter. I take my hair clip out from my half-up hair do to let it all down. I scratch my scalp to relieve the light pain from my hairdo.

I went to a restaurant with my friend to celebrate her birthday. Although I missed them dearly, it gave Jake and our daughter some time by themselves. She had just turned three and Jake and I had a small birthday party for her with his family and some of mine. Since Jake is not home as often as we'd like, every minute they get together is important.

I walk up the stairs to hear soft guitar strumming. Low purple light is coming from my daughters bedroom, as I reach the top of the stairs. I quietly sneak down the hallway to her room. I stand in the doorway.

Jake is seated in a rocking chair that he pulled up next to her bed. He strums the melody of "Can't Help Falling in Love"

My heart melts at the beautiful sight. He starts singing.

"Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?"

I lean against the doorway and sweet tears glaze my eyes.

How did I find someone as naturally amazing of a father as he is?

"But I can't help falling in love with you."

He continues to sing to her until her pretty eyes start to flutter slowly. He plays even quieter than before. Her eyes peacefully close. His hand reaches out to caress her cheek. He stands up, leans down, and kisses her forehead.

"Love you, angel." Jake tells our daughter and he turns around and nearly jumps out of his skin.

"Baby, fuck." He quietly laughs. "You just scared the shit out of me." He whispers as he runs to the door. I wipe my eyes, laughing a little. I put my finger up to his mouth.

"You've got to stop having a bad mouth around her." I joke, considering she's sound asleep.

"Well, I like it when you have a bad mouth around me, pretty lady." He carries his guitar by its neck as he steps out of the room. He slaps my butt as we walk down the hall.

"Jacob!" I turn around and walk backwards. "You're horrible." I grab his shirt and pull him into kiss him.

We go into our master bedroom. He leans his acoustic guitar against the wall.

"You look so sexy tonight, baby." He hypes me up. I stand in front of the full-length mirror. He stands behind me.

"Thank you." I lightly smile and hike my dress higher up my thighs to tease him.

"Damn." He mumbles and rubs his hands around my hips. I giggle as he puts his head in my neck and bites it softly. He lifts his head up, giving a light smile. One of his hands moves to the bottom of my back. He slowly moves his hand up my spine making me bend over in front of him. I press my butt up to him. He scoffs while smiling. He shakes his head as I stand back up to him.
