When Simon stepped off the bus the next day at Hillerska, he looked up once again at the towering building, keeping his head held high. Everyone seemed to be staring at him as he walked up the drive towards the school. All their fantasies about what had happened over Christmas, theories about what was going to happen this term was written all over their faces. His life to them was their own personal source of gossip. Wanting to not let that bring him down, he kept his eyes straight and went up to Sara's room to see how her first night was.

After knocking upon Sara's door, Simon heard hurried footsteps before Sophia opened the door.

"Oh, hey! Sara's just gone to the bathroom, she won't be long, want to come in?"

"Sure."

Upon entering, he saw Sara's posters had already made their way onto her wall, bed messy as it always was.

"We didn't properly talk yesterday. I'm Sophia." She extended her hand, Simon shaking it in return.

"Simon." He looked at her, as her eyes were darting all over his face, as if she was looking for something.

"Yeah, I know." He didn't know if she meant if Sara had told her about him, or she knew him before moving here. Either way, his gut in that moment told him Sophia was hiding something.

"Oh, hey Simon, ready to go?" Sara entered the room hurried, knowing they were already running late.

After a night of restless anticipation, Wille got up the next day with fresh hope that the day would bring some new happiness. Dragging himself to breakfast was a little less excruciating knowing he would be able to see Simon in class later that day. He chatted with the people around him, avoiding August's gaze at all costs.

With the conclusion of breakfast, and the ending of uncomfortable conversations with his peers, he progressed to the first lesson of the day. He got there early in the hope of being able to see Simon for as long as possible. Waiting in anticipation, he began to chew his thumb, darting his eyes between the doorframe and straight infront of him. Each person who entered looked and smiled at him, which he reciprocated. Each time however, his eyes returned to the door frame. As more people piled in the classroom, which in turn filled with the chattering of his classmates, he began to loose hope. What if Simon transferred? He had heard that Sara had moved in, what if he was just here yesterday for that, coming to Hillerska for the last time. What if that was it?

Just as his hopes had all but left him, he saw Sara enter the door quickly followed by Simon. Sara looked back at Simon, whose eyes had already landed on Wille's. Simon looked away quickly, leaving Wille alone in watching Simon sit down behind him.

After breaking his stare, he wondered if he had the courage to speak to Simon. Whether he could will his mouth to talk when all he could hear was his parents voices in his mind telling him to be silent. Before he could make a choice though, the teacher walked in, leaving Wille in uncomfortable restlessness for the remainder of the lesson, stealing glances whenever he could.

...

As the bell rang throughout the school, Simon shot out of the door before he could get a word to him. Wille remained calm, hoping Simon just needed time and space.

The day rolled on, hours of Wille willing for Simon to talk to him were unsuccessful. During a work period later in the day though, he saw Simon walk into the common room towards him. Everyone's eyes, which had all been darting to Wille since he came in, were now flickering between both Simon and Wille. Wille sat up as Simon continued to look at him. Before Wille could speak, Simon placed the notebook and the letter in front of Wille and walked away. Wille picked it up, turning it to the front page, on which read; "I can't decide this for you, you need to decide for yourself."

Clearly his attempt to get Simon to help him was in vain. He knew in Simon's words that Wille needed to be 100% certain that this is what he wanted, and what he wanted alone. Unable to cope with the dozen eyes staring at him, he packed his stuff away and left for the bathrooms.

Opening the door, he was glad to see it completely deserted. He ran the tap of cold water, placing his hands either side of the basin. As he tried to control his breathing, he heard the door open to August standing in the doorway.

As he turned the tap tight, handing his head low with the support of his arms, Wille spoke; "August, I am really not in the mood for another apology."

"Well good thing I'm not here to apologise. There's a party happening tomorrow night, I was wondering if you would come."

"August, I am really not in the mood for a party."

"Just think about it." With a half smile, August left the bathroom with the same arrogance he held when he walked in.

Wille looked back at himself in the mirror. Closing his eyes, he tried to focus on his breathing, focus on anything that would make all of this stop, for everything to just be okay.
