1 YEAR LATER*******************************************************
"Hey Flora."
"Hey Zee... Where's Gulf?"
"He's still at the clinic." Zee told the girl.
"What are you having this evening?" Flora asked him.
"Mmmm.... Rice... Some omelette and can you make me your chicken green curry please." Zee told her.
"Spiciness level?" Flora asked him.
"Primary kid level?" Zee joked making the girl laughed.
"Don't worry... My Dad knows what you like."
"Thanks Flora... And just get me some iced water. Thanks."
"Sure Zee... I'll be back." She said and left his table. The younger girl made her way back to the kitchen. Zee looked around the small family restaurant. Zee and Gulf had grown to enjoy eating at the restaurant as it was located near their housing area and their dishes are just perfect for them. Zee checked his cell phone for any messages from Gulf, his mother or from work. He had begun working in the small IT department at Chiang Rai Police Department for the past 8 months. He had to go through a few interviews and some training before he got to work with them. Chiang Rai was definitely not Bangkok. Nevertheless, Chiang Rai was so close to the Thailand's border with Laos. The nature of the crime there was different from what Zee would usually deal in Bangkok.
There was no message from Gulf. There were a few messages from their mother and his colleagues. They were still adamant for him to follow them to the nearest club. One of them was celebrating her birthday and most of his colleagues were at the club at that moment. Zee did not feel like going but he had grown close to a few of them. Maybe he could decide after he had his dinner. He was still in his police uniform and the fact he had to head home and change; was not something that he welcomed.
Flora arrived with his iced water first and a plate of some of their fresh traditional salad that consisted of some cucumbers, bitter gourd, some different herbs and plus a spicy dipping sauce. He thanked Flora and took a piece of cucumber and dipped it into the sauce. He started eating and he immediately began sweating. Gulf and him were not fans of spicy foods. Only MingMing or Saint would enjoy spicy food. He stopped eating when his mind drifted to Saint. After the message he received in the mail about a year before, he had not received any messages nor anything through his cell phone from the man. It was as if they practically disappeared from the face of Earth.
One year had passed. The deaths of Black Dragon's leaders and the downfall of its organisation had been on people's lips for a few months and they slowly disappeared. Zee knew that even though Black Dragon was no more, but other groups would make their way up to take over the underbelly of the black market as that was how things worked. There would always be someone or something that would want to be number one and to monopolise the black market. He unconsciously opened his cell phone and browsed through his photo gallery. He stopped when he found Saint's pic. He wondered where the man was. He wondered if the man was alright. He smiled when he remembered the last message Saint to him.
"Excuse me..." A voice brought Zee back to reality and he raised his head. It was one of Zee's colleagues from his department.
"Hi..." Zee smiled at the beautiful woman.
"Hi yourself... May I?" She asked while pointing at the chair in front of Zee.
"Sure... Why are you here? Why aren't you with the guys?" He asked her.
"How about you? Why are you still here?" She questioned him.
"I'm planning to go home and change... Then head there." Zee explained.
"Maybe I can do the same." She said and smiled at him.
"Have you eaten?" Zee asked her.
"Nah... I'm on diet... Mmm... Do you think I need to diet? What do you think Zee?" She smiled at Zee.
"You look just fine..." Zee replied.
"Fine? That's... Fine... I guess..." She pouted.
"What I mean... You don't have to diet... Cause you look healthy." Zee explained but his colleague still looked unhappy.
"Healthy?" She looked a little disappointed.
"Yeah." Zee nodded.
"Can I catch a ride with you later when you head to the club?" She asked him.
"Of course... But I guess you have to follow me home... If you don't mind following me home that is." Zee asserted.
"No Zee... No problem at all..." She smiled at him.
"Cool." Zee nodded his head.
"Zee..."
"Yeah...?" Zee answered and picked up another piece of cucumber.
"Mmm... I know that you're single... I am wondering... If..." She stopped talking as she looked as if she was distracted by something.
"You're wondering... What?" Zee asked her.
