Chapter 23: Dangerous power

Moona's POV:

Previously:

Moona ran into the woods, Ryder chased her down and explained that he wasn't defending her because he wasn't even listening to them anymore. He catches Moona and they end up in a heated make-out. Moona asks him to mark her and that’s where the chapter ended.

*Snap* 

Just as i feel his teeth lightly scrape my neck we hear a twig snap and our heads shoot up.

"Did you hear that?"

He stops and looks around, scanning the area for something. 

"Probably just an animal." he responds.

"Ya that’s what I’m afraid of," I mumble. "Uhhgg, now the moods all ruined. We should get back."

I notice Ryder’s eyes darken as he stares into mine, 

"Is it now?" he smirks and bites my bottom lip. I gulp as heat rushes through my body and pools at my center. 

"Uhh-huhh-mmmm." I start to agree before he covers my lips with his. He trails kisses across my jaw and down my neck, nipping and licking every now and then. I try to hold back my moans, but as he reaches my sweet spot and starts to suck, a loud moan rips through my throat. 

"What was that?" He whispered against my skin.

"Shut-up and mark me you jerk." I mumble back impatiently. He just chuckles.

"As you wish." I feel his sharp teeth scrape against the skin of my neck before they sink in and a burning sensation erupts from the spot on my neck. I scream, but as he sinks his teeth in deeper that scream turns into a loud moan.

As he pulls his teeth out of my neck he licks the spot.

“I’m Sorry.” He brings his face closer to mine and just as his lips are about to connect with mine we hear another loud noise. This time though, there’s no mistaking it as a harmless animal.

We hear a loud roar as a few bloodied and gross looking wolves jump out of the trees, their fur matted, and their faces feral. As we scan the area for any more of them something else steps out of the shadows as well. I've never seen a creature such as this one before though.

"Ryder...what...what is that...thing...those things?" I ask as he pushes me behind him.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON MY LAND?!?" He roars as they begin to circle us. 

I watch as they circle, looking for any movements that would suggest they were gonna attack. As I search around the circle I pick up a barely audible sound, that is almost too quiet for me to hear, coming from above us. I glance up just as something lunges towards Ryder.

"NOO!" I scream as it reaches Ryder. Just as I think it is going to kill Ryder, the creature is thrown backwards. There standing next to Ryder is a strange cloaked man. 

"Wh-who are you?" i question.

"No time for that right now kid. We gotta finish this first." He replies quickly, while gesturing around at the creatures surrounding us. I nod my head and we get to it,

One wolf lunges at me and I jump out of the way right as it is going to collide with me, so instead the wolf hits the floor. As it passes me I bring my arm up and wrap it around the wolf's neck. Without thinking and as if on instinct I snap the wolf's neck. I drop the wolf body, freaking out, and turn around just in time to be tackled by one of those unfamiliar creepy looking swamp monster things. Ok. OK. Focus now, panic later...or else there wont be a later.
