Chapter 11

GENESIS

Both of our eyes snapped to the door at once.

"What?!" Armani shouted a slight shake in his voice.

"We're going to need to come in. Strict orders were given by Beta Zekiel to search everywhere. There is a terrorist on the loose"

Terrorist?  Why are they making this a bigger deal than it needs to be? Was this truly all because I refused to allow this man to touch me?

"Well you can tell Beta Zekiel I said piss off. There isn't a terrorist in my room." He mocked, rolling his eyes while I stared on in shock.

With finality in his little voice he said, "Leave."

For the first time since I met him I felt a hint of his prestige. The pup is going to be powerful for sure, a surge of pride filled me.

'Are you trying to get yourself killed' I mouthed, giving him a hard pinch on the ear.

"Apologies, but if you do not open up we'll have no choice but to come in" the voice at the door boomed.

"Ah man, you got me" Armani said.

I stifled a chuckle while walking over to the window, assessing our next move. My initial plan was to escape leaving the kid out of my mess but he dug himself a bigger hole with that sarcastic mouth of his.

"You know what Johnathan, you can piss off too"

I shot a glare in his direction as I carefully opened the window and looked down at the distance. It was going to be a hard impact but I could make it.

"Listen, just open up so we can do our jobs" the guard sighed in defeat.

I can't believe they stood there arguing with a ten year old, if there was really a terrorist in the room they'd be long gone.

"Why don't you burst my door down tough g-"

Before he could finish his sentence, I grabbed him and jumped holding a hand over his mouth so he wouldn't scream. We couldn't afford that right now.

I maneuvered my body just in time as we hit the floor, allowing him to land safely as I braced the impact of our fall.

"Golf cart" he whispered hurriedly but I had a different idea.

Not stopping to think about the ache in my back, I picked him up and ran in the direction of the forest.

As soon as we were concealed by the trees, I changed forms. It had been a while since I took the form of my beast but I couldn't stop to revel in the feeling. Without a word, Armani climbed on to my back and I was off.

I zipped through the trees, jumping over fallen branches, following the scent of fresh water. These woods were still very foreign to us but I remembered the water source that Joel had brought me to.

When I find that, it'll be twice as easy to make my way back to my apartment building.

After about 7 minutes of running I came to a stop at the stream. Armani hopped off and began making his way to the water.

I sat alert on my hind legs and for the first time I realized that I technically kidnapped a child.

"I'll call my brother to get me when we reach your place" he said placing his feet in his water.

"Your wolf is one of the largest females I have ever seen. Even larger than my brother's girlfriend, well fiancé they are getting married" he said. From his tone of voice I could tell that he wasn't quite fond of her.
