(Tom's Pov)

"You're welcome!"

This was dangerous. I shouldn't be doing this and if it was just me I would have declined the offer but with Shroud being here I don't have much choice. They are only young, I don't know quite how old but I'm guessing around 6 or 7, we have been travelling for 2 days now and they are getting tired.

As soon as the lantern had cast its light onto our new host's face I had a good idea who it was, I mean how many enderman hybrids do you meet? When he introduced himself as Ranboo it just confirmed my suspicions. He didn't seem to have recognised me though, I guess I have changed quite a bit.

I was playing a dangerous game.

(Ranboo's Pov)

I led them down parallel to the wall surrounding Snowchester till we got to the gate. I let us in and took them to Tubbo's house, I knocked twice and waited for my husband to open the door.

"Ranboo! What took you so long? Who is that-" Tubbo froze, staring in horror at the guy beside me.

Tom stared back, he gently moved Shroud behind him.

"T-tommy?"

(Tom's Pov)

I took a deep breath, "Hi Tubbo."

He was taller, not by a lot though. His hair was longer and had grown past his eyes. The scar on the left side of his face had healed a bit and didn't look as raw; it was more skin coloured than red now. His horns and goat ears had grown considerably and he dropped the green oversized shirt for a warmer coat - one suitable for living in the snowy forest.

I should have listened to my gut and tried to find a different place to stay the night, I could have built a shelter or found a shallow cave to sleep in. Now I have put my child in danger.

"Tommy h-how?" He stuttered. Ranboo stood awkwardly watching us, shifting from foot to foot unsure on what to do.

"Dada? What's going on?" Shroud tugged at my sleeve.

"We should go.." I went to turn but I spotted a shadow diving straight toward my head, glowing green eyes stared into mine.

Fuck.

I grabbed Shroud's arm tightly and put myself in front of them before drawing my sword and swiping at the thing.

"God I hate phantoms." I muttered as it curved upwards and circled round screeching.

"Quick come inside." Ranboo took charge and led Tubbo up the stairs to the house, gesturing at me to follow.

I paused, unsure on what to do. It was late now and mobs were stalking. It wasn't safe to go out and try find shelter - especially not with a young child. But the idea that he could be on his way to find me terrified me even more than the thoughts of zombies or spiders. Even though it had been 5 years since I escaped I couldn't let my guard down, everyone was a threat. Especially if they had known Dream.

"Tommy!" Ranboo called again.

Shroud yawned, "Dada who are those people?"

That made up my mind, they were exhausted and needed rest.

"Just some people I used to know, come on buba, lets get you to bed." I picked them up so their arms were round my neck and their head was on my shoulder.

"I'm not tired!" They insisted holding back another yawn.

"Yes you are." I laughed quietly. I carried them up the stairs and opened the door to the house. The warmth hit me, a fire was a welcome sight after trekking through the snowy tundra for 2 days.

Tubbo was sitting on a small sofa with his knees up to his chin. He looked so small and vulnerable just then.

"Do you have somewhere I can put Shroud down for some sleep?" I asked.

"Um yeah, there's a spare bed in Michael's room." Ranboo said getting up to show us the way.

"Michael?"

"Our son, we found him wondering alone in the nether - he's a zombie pigman hybrid. He's mute by the way."

"Oh okay." How much has changed? Tubbo has a son and a husband now?

Ranboo led me up a ladder and through a trapdoor in the ceiling. Michael's room was covered in pictures and child's drawings, there was a double bed with yellow sheets and plants were sitting by the window. There was a chicken sleeping on a cushion in one corner and fairy lights adorned the walls.

A small child, about Shroud's age, was sitting up in the bed. Like Ranboo said, Michael was a zombie pigman hybrid.

Michael looked from me to Ranboo and back before making some shapes with his hands.

"He's an old friend, and his kid is called Shroud! Shroud is a spider hybrid." Ranboo walked over to his son and sat on the edge of the bed.

The kid did some more signs, a smile widening on his face.

"A friend? Yeah they're a friend! And their very tired so would it be ok if they stayed in your room? Like a sleepover."

Michael grinned and nodded vigorously. Ranboo signalled for me to bring Shroud over.

"Hey Shroud? This is Michael - Tubbo and Ranboo's son. He doesn't talk but he's very excited to meet you!" I said as excitedly as I could as Shroud turned to look at their new friend.

"H-hey Michael." They said giving a little wave. Michael waved back happily.

"Michael says you can sleep here tonight is that ok bub?" I really hoped they wouldn't say it wasn't because I wasn't sure where else they could sleep.

"Yeah a sleepover!" Their face brightened.

I let out a sigh of relief, "Yeah a sleepover!"

I tucked them in as they rubbed their eyes. Michael reached down and grabbed a wooden sword from where it was leaning against the bed. It was painted gold and he seemed very proud of it when he showed Shroud. Shroud took the sword gently in his hands and marvelled at the gold paint.

"Woahh that's so cool! Can we paint my sword Dada?"

"Tomorrow, you need to sleep." I said.

"But I wanna see Michael's toys!"

"Tomorrow bub."

"Okay." They reached out their arms for a hug and I held onto them tightly.

Ranboo and I left the kids and went back down the ladder.

The next few hours were going to goo by veryyyy slowly.
